Anyone catch the "Sneak Preview" of this after the Apprentice? Of all the new Fall shows that Ive watched so far, I liked this one the best. Its very CSI-ish but...different....

Much Thanks to CanOfSoup for the sig!

I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about.

"CSI" is THE most overrated show on TV, and this show is just a blatantly hack-ish knock off of it.

Of course, I say this just having seen my first taste of both shows tonight, but I was tremendously unimpressed. Probably didn't help I was watching one of new "Homicide" DVD's today.

Anyway, the big "trauma" in "Medical Investigation," at least what I could gather from the 20 minutes I could stand, was that people were getting sick...and turning blue. Like Smurf-blue. Seriously.

Yeah, it was THAT retarded. And half the investigaton "team" looked like their collective ages was maybe 32.

It's the "Hack" of 2004!

Well, the 'New Fall Season' TV Guide arrived a few days ago, and that's what I was reading the other day eating apeanut butter sandwich, and I was like, 'This is it?' and also 'Wow, have the Stock of some former Movie/TV stars fallen.'

=

So when I visit Mom and something is on I see 10 minutes of Oprah or the Weather Channel or some News Channel, but besides that, thats it. What started as an experiment has become the norm. I have absolutely no desire to watch TV.

Joey
Apprentice
CSI
Will and Grace
Law and Order

what are the other big ones? Havent seen a single second of any of the above.

i saw a preview of this show during 'the twenty' before seeing spiderman 2, and it looked like the biggest piece of overacting shit ...

the lead just yelling and over-emoting every line ...

saw the first ten minutes, and it was possibly the best horrible show: i loved the angry, stereotypical ex-wife, coming late to the kids game, getting yet another call that he had to take, the amazing tip to his son and the single greatest scene of the helicopter landing in the outfield to rush hime to nyc ...

just terrible ...

The only show I'm looking forward to is the new season of Law & Order. Dennis Farrina is joining the cast. Excellent choice.

the might work if it was more in the '24' area of one trumatic event played out over a season ... then again, i've never seen '24' so i don't know how solid my theory might be ...?

how often do unknown plaques strike the US ...? is this more common than i think ...?

in 'and the band played on' i loved how they dissected the birth of AIDS, but i really doubt this show will reach such heights ...

See, now THAT'S a good idea. Any show that is willing to let stories evolve over the longterm usually ends up being some of the best stuff on TV ("Homicide," "The Sopranos," "The Wire," and even a show I don't like, "The Shield," which does the idea of ongoing multiple storylines very well). Have an unfolding medical epidemic over 22 episodes, as opposed to something new every episode. I hate this notion that every little fucking detail needs to be solved in 60 minutes. That one episode of "CSI" I saw made me feel there was no need to watch another episode again, because it seemed like there was zero carrying on into the future. They could have had a whole new cast and nobody would have noticed. There's zero connection to anyone on the show.

M.I. was okay. The two main actors (girl from Practice and dude from Boomtown) are great, but didn't really click with the rest of the cast and came off pretty cold.

I just don't feel it. The "wound effects?" Yeah, it was cool in "Three Kings." On this show it just smacks of a cheap gimmick to fill time so the writers don't have to write as long a script. And like I said, there's zero interesting me about the characters. They're just there to spout dialogue, and that's it. ANYONE could say any of their lines, and it wouldn't make a difference. They're all interchangable. There seemed to be no ongoing storylines whatsoever. Quite frankly, it was very dull. It had all the dramatic "ooomph" of an episode of the old "Dragnet" series.

The thing is, I like that there is very little ongoing plot. They did that the first year, and it sucked. I watched because I liked forensic shows. The plot was so bad, that I was hoping for it to go off the air so that I didn't feel obliged to watch. It is much better now.

Meh, that's my thing. "CSI" just doesn't click. But I can at least see how some would like it. "Medical Investigation" is just laughable bad.

I forgot it was on until like ten minutes in and its too late by then. I did see some of Third Watch, I show I don't normally tune into, but from what I saw it was pretty intense.
