We just got word that we're emptying the base here in Pensacola tonight. We're going to a logistics base in Albany, Georgia. I hope our barracks aren't blown away.

Good luck. Hopefully Albany Georgia isn't as boring as Albany New York.

I'm sure it's worse. Maybe they'll let us just drink in their enlisted club the whole time.

What else are we supposed to do, shoot at the hurricane with M16s or something?
I have no idea what's going on with the equipment. Maybe they'll fly the planes to another base, who knows. I heard that they take the boats out to sea and wait for the hurricane to pass, then bring them back.

i would think that the stuff on the base would be very strongly built, almost bomb shelter like quality. I have never been on a base, so i was assuming. I just thought if it could withstand a bomb, it could handle a hurricane.

It would make sense and all to make all these buildings hurricane proof, since they're right in hurricane alley and 200 yards from the water, but for whatever retarded reason they're not. Apparantly they were trying to save money and the barracks were built by "the lowest bidder."

Either way, be safe!

How else are they going to afford your massive salaries?

I'm pretty sure a thermal nuclear detonation in the eye of Ivan would break that storm up.

Apparently I have a cousin in jail down there, and he isn't being evacuated. The prison he's at has already suffered power, staff and water shortages from the last two hurricaines...if this one hits there...ouch.
The lesson? Don't be a dumbass and drink and drive.
