I'm from NY but in Sterling VA for the week for work. After consulting the map, decided to make the "tour" - ran down to O'Meara's for dinner last night - met Mike. Left there, and headed over to the studio. I called the 866 number, and the staffer was nice enough to send the producer out to meet me - I asked if the boys had time for a pic during a break - they came out during the second break (in the middle of the W tapes).

Was nice to meet them (first time). Told them NY misses them and would like to see them back. In typical Ron fasion he said he heard rumors.

Will post the pics when I get home.

Thanks again guys - it is true all you have to do is be polite and they'll let you in.

p.s. man the studio is smaller than I thought
p.p.s. they asked if I was still listening on the down low and I said yep.

That's cool Bill. They really do have the open-door policy for the fans.

i had nothing to say when I first met them, so the next time I brought gifts as an ice breaker, now Ron never forgets and Fez almost remembers me when he sees me....to me this is pretty darn neat... They are great people.

Very Cool! That's an awesome story.

Yeah; my college station had a larger [much larger; we could fit a five piece band in + 2 DJs] studio, but that JFK Main studio is about the size of a Prod Room.

That's great Bill. I'd love to head out there one day to see the show in action. I've met them before back in the Bar 9 days, but I've always wanted to see the show going on. Plus it would be cool to see some of the JFK folks, like J-Dubs or El Jefe.

My first time to visit the studio was arranged by then Producer Wonderboy.

I showed up and was placed in the call screening room. J-Dubs had a problem with the printer, so I opened it up and took care of the problem.

Fez saw me and shook my hand.

After I left, I found out that the boys had no idea I was there to visit the show. They thought I was the printer repair guy.

Thanks for the fond memories Wonderboy.

my suggestion is to do what I did - show up, call from the parking lot and ask if they have 2 min to come out DURING A BREAK.

If you feel ballsy, ask to watch from the hallway afterwards for 5 min.

It's worth it.

All right. Your posts usually make me chuckle Jeff, but this had me laughing hard.

I had never felt the urge to go and visit because I feel like I would be bothing them. But maybe i'll get to visit if my band wins the unsigned competition. It is alright to have the lyrics on the radio say "Fuck you, dirty hippie, fuck you, time to die. Fuckin' burnout piece of shit. Get on your knees and suck my dick" right?

Cool. We'd have to bring Amy with us as well, as she's been on the show several times and is pretty tight with the boys. If only she could get a day off from work.

I met ron and fez at last year's Dave and Buster's show, and saw them again this years.
My mom (I was only 18 so I couldnt get in to D&B alone because of the bar) and I spoke to fez for while, and I had ron and fez sign my shirt. It was great. I hope to visit the studio some day, I listen every day, and when I can't I listen to the archives!

Cool story. My girl friend and I had always planned to go to a live gig back in NYC but never made it out.

We're married now and now living in mid-Jersey so we are considering heading down to next live gig they do. The next live friday show they do, we'll be there for sure.

Great picture & story - how was the food at O'Mearas??? Was Mike cool or a prick?

I'm surprised Fez didn't offer to put you up at his house - it's been the holding station for all of the NY buddies that come through DC. They said that once they move to Los Angeles I can finally visit! Can't wait!

Funny, WJFK thought I was, too.

Hey Wendell!

Weird not seeing you there anymore

My first time to visit the studio was arranged by then Producer Wonderboy.

I showed up and was placed in the call screening room. J-Dubs had a problem with the printer, so I opened it up and took care of the problem.

lol!

Yeah - not quite what you imagine a multi-million $$ outfit looking and running like, huh?

If you haven't been in before, it's still best to give them a quick heads up by either contacting their new producer, or e-mailing Ron.

My first couple of times visiting were always arranged by the WB; after one night when we came in too late to do anything because that's when Ray-Ray said to come in, Ron just said to come on in whenever I felt like it, so I do. It really is like your own private radio play! haha. Even if you aren't directly contributing, they really love performing for somebody, so you shouldn't feel odd about going in and watching.

Last week Ron promised to come by some afternoon and watch me do my job. Can't wait for that either!
