Taking a lot of pills can make people nervous. As an LPN, I don't like the idea of being put on a bunch of meds, each to enhance the other. I also hate how often antibiotics are prescribed without a culture.

One of my brother's LOVES taking pills. He's such a whiny hypochondriac. I don't hate taking pills but I usually put off going to the doctor for way too long.

I'm actually back in school now, but as a CIS major. I'm doing a total field change into computer networking. But I'm going to keep my license. Though, I may get my RN later in the future.

You have to take a pill to help another pill? Isn't that like an oxymoron? These pharmaceutical companies rape you for a buck. Sick.

No, it's not really an oxymoron (in the literal or metaphorical sense).
As for the use of two medications in conjunction with one another, it's not uncommon. There are even medications out there that are used for a specific treatment, but when combined with another medication can treat a different ailment. They can also take on stronger properties (think steroids used to enhance the work of an antibiotic).
That's the great (and at times frightening) thing about chemical balances/interactions.
On a general level, think about it in terms of food, pound cake for example:
Ingredients:
3 cups cake flour
6 large eggs
1 pound butter
1 pound sugar
2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup buttermilk
Salt by itself is used to season a variety of foods and has a unique taste.
Sugar by itself is also used to season foods because of it's sweetness.
Use only one of the ingredient in the pound cake though and you have a totally different product. The salt and sugar work together to create a tasty treat.

No. If you want the souffle to rise, I recommend you add some Viagra.
