Why do people have flat baseball cap bills?

I've seen several "african american" new yorkers wearing baseball caps with the Bill completely flat. They always look brand new (usually with the "New Era" sticker still on the bill.) Also, the hat is usually just off to the side, at like a 45 degree hand from their forehead...

What is that about? a style? where did it come from. I've noticed that CC Sabthia from the Cleveland Indians wears it like that.

It's like it is with sneakers. They always have to be be perfectly clean and look fresh out of the box. It's the appeal of the product being BRAND NEW that reflects the financial status of the person wearing it. If you take the tag off the Timberlands or you curve the baseball cap, it's no longer in the form it was when it was brand new. It'll look old and broken in, thus, YOU ARE POOR.

And as far as CC Sabathia, I think someone should tell him to straighten it out. I don't think you can wear your hat backwards, so why is he allowed to wear it to the side? It's stupid and disrespectful. The hat is not a fashion statement on the field. It's part of the uniform.

a friend of mine has a cubs hat, fitted like 2 sizes to big. the hat is so flat it looks brand new.
what he does is put on a sweat band, and then wears the hat off to the side, not completly, and over the head band

dont ask me why, and he isnt black, he is veneluelan (sp)
