Disregard this review if you don't care for Bernie Mac...or baseball movies. I like Bernie Mac, he is funny and he has his first big gig in the Charlie Stone III ('Whazzzup' commercial guy from Philly) comedy, "Mr. 3000". The story of Milwaukee Brewers blowhard batting champ named Stan, who is tired of the game and the press and wants his Hall of Fame status after his 3000th hit to base. He quits the game midseason in 92 and retires into the burbs with a shopping mall and a bar. After a mix-up in his stats, he must re-enter the league 10yrs later (at the ripe age of 47) to get 3 more hits. Funny premise gets some formula laughs, and the locker room jokes are overripe. There is romance and the 'no "I" in "Team' message to take home with you.

The movie works because Bernie has a heart and wanted to do a good picture, and it passes. Angela Bassett is the reporter that he still has a longing for. Basset and Bernie have a very hot chemistry and Stone is a good film-maker. Otherwise it's better than any movie Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock have pumped out recently. A little 'Bad Santa' meets ' Major League' , but not classic in any way. Give it a chance.

If anything I thing Bernie Mac is an unfunny waste of tallent, however his movies looks Good. Ill wait for it to come out on DVD in March
