Fuck knows why they are called that, but thats not the Q.

It's 7:45am and I'm heading out to the Flea Market. Sobriety has some benefits. I think. OK not really but anyway...

Anyone else Go? You wanna find some CDs and DVDs and PS2 and other good shit that some guy has to sell for 1/4 of the retail price? These things rock.

The weekend after The Most Funk-Tacular Rick James died I go to my local flea market, and there in a stack of CDs, Boom; Rick James' Grestest, and I open it up [to see if theres indeed a CD in there, it happens...] and its in like New shape.

$2.

How Fookin Cool is Dat?

And the Yin to that Yang, I found, a few years back a first edition of Carrie by Stephen King. True firsts sell for around $400. I wasnt sure it was a true first until I got it home, but the person was that Perfect Flea market person, the one who has something and they Don't know what it's worth.

[Me as casual as I can be] "Yeah..umm deez books here, how much for them?"

"Which"

"Uh, this old one, ummm, Carrie?"

"ehhh... Gimme $4"

Sold.

When I'm in the mood to buy new music I head over to Empire Discs (http://www.empirediscs.com/) in Garden City. They sell tons of new and used cds very cheap. Plus if you want a used cd and you want to test it out if it's okay, they give you a player and some headphones to play it to your hearts content. Plus they sometimes feature live band contests right in the store which are pretty amazing.

Ok I go back; 3 books for 3 bucks, and a dollar for the "Left Behind" movie with Kirk Cameron.

If you havent been following R+F too closely; Kirk Cameron is now shilling for God at his web site "The Way of The Master"; it's friggin' hilarious, including a Quiz on whether or not youre going to hell or not, meaning whether youre a christian and follow every commandment to the letter.

Lied Once? You fry!

Anyway the "Left Behind" series is this Hugely succesful series of books about the Tribulation and I kept hearing about a cheesy movie version made, starring Kirk, of course.

The Link to "The Way of the Master" Kirk talks to you. Seriously. (http://www.thewayofthemaster.com/wotm_flash.html)

"Left Behind": The Movie. Kirk is Capt. Buck Williams! Nice Name, Deeek! (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0190524/)

And I paid a dollar; why do I feel so dirty?

At the dump around here people drop off stuff they don't need (furntiture, sometimes computers) and on the weekend people are allowed to come in and take the rotting shit they want for free.

I used to go to the flea market to buy tools. You can find great wrenches and plumbing tools there that were barely used. And cheap too. I once bought a pair of Channel Locks for $4 and they were like new.

I got a pipe cutter once that looked brand new for $10. You couldn't even tell the blade had been used.

i own a pair of channel locks. but i truthfully never knew they were called that. I always call them a wrench. mine is the wrench with the blue handle, my dads is the wrench with the green handle
both are channel locks, and now i know! I learn so much here.

Yeah theres one here called Collingswood Auction but Englishtown is the big place. Gotta love that one, I walk the aisles forever, just checking out what people sell; some are pros, some have last weeks copy of the National Enquirer for sale. Anything and Everything.

And just the worst knock, off bootleg shit anywhere, but like Ron said, who is really getting ripped off? The person who pays $1200 for a Designer purse, or someone who pays $20 for one that's a bootleg?

The bootleg NYPD and FDNY and 9/11 shit bugs me, but oh well.

But what the hell is a Pork Roll?

I had a feeling this would come up at some point.

It's pretty much a 3 lb. log of pork. Hence a pork roll. It is cut into 1/4 inch slices and tastes pretty good on a Kasier Roll with egg and cheese.

From Ween:

Pork Roll Egg And Cheese

When you've had your fun, and your work is done,
You must not succumb.
I can feel you breathe. It's like a mega-weedge inside.
Please don't hide.

So mom, if you please, pass me the pork roll egg and cheese, if you please,
On a kaiser bun.
Mom, if you please, pass me the pork roll egg and cheese, if you please,
On a kaiser bun.

When the guava's drained, Eddie Dingle remains.
But we must further ourselves on.
So dynamic is life, staring into the sight's
Not right, but wrong in a good way.

So mom, if you please, pass me the pork roll egg and cheese, if you please,
On a kaiser bun.
Mom, if you please, pass me the pork roll egg and cheese, if you please,
On a kaiser bun.

Mom, if you please, pass me the pork roll egg and cheese, if you please,
Kaiser bun. Pork roll egg and cheese.

When I'm in the mood to buy new music I head over to Empire Discs in Garden City.

I like Vintage Vinyl (http://www.vvinyl.com/default.asp) and Double Decker (http://www.firstpress.net/doubledecker/). Vintage has pretty much anything you can think of and a nice assortment of action figures and other toys and some crazy DVD's and ton's of good 'ol satan worshipping Black Metal. Why I have no idea but they do. Double Decker has pretty much anythin punk and hardcore and the store owner Jamie buys and sells and trades for old collectibles from the 50's and 60's and 70's as well. There is a whole mess of old records int here and piles and piles of records to look through and boxes and boxes of CD's to look through as well. The best thing, you WILL find some gems and for the most part things are pretty cheap.

As far as flea markets go, gravitate towards the ones in and around Bucks County, PA and out towards Lancaster. I really need to take some pictures of my plae cause there is a virtual flea market going on in my place with all the weird bizarre shit I have bought over time. My Lois Coilbert Lamp Statue, my 8-Track Players, my beer lights and my oddball lamps. There really is such an unlimited amount of SHIT you can find. For most of my live I have lived at the Quakertown Farmers Market (http://www.quakertownfarmersmkt.com/) on the weekends. Speking of which I am gonna head up there today for a LaserDisc Player and the Star Wars Trilogy on LaserDisc. I know that will be the only way I can see them in their original glory. While I am there I can get me some Jo-Jo Potatoes, some scrapple and some Italian Roast Pork and Sharp Provolone for some sammiches during the Eagles game today.
