Ahhhh...looks like the JFK gnomes are hard at work again...this is from DCRTV today!
106.7 Wants Baseball, Bad - 9/29 - DCRTV hears that Infinity is going to make "a big push" to land the radio rights for the new DC baseball team. For WJFK-FM, which is the Redskins flagship station. One scenario: moving evening guys Ron and Fez to middays, with evenings (and overnights) going to all-sports, including local baseball.....

How the heck would they handle daytime games? Wouldn't that not only eat into Mid-days but also take a bit out of Don and Mike?
With syndication does that mean there could be a scenario where everyone can hear the two shows except the flagship station during ball games?
The baseball is better suited to a station willing to devote more than just evenings to sports.

what's a midday shift, 11:00 to 3:00 ...?
a day game would start at 1:00 with a pregame of 12:30 ... it would be more of a problem for afternoon drive ...
besides, day games account for maybe ten percent of the schedule ...

Makes you wonder if they know their audience at all. Bill O'Sucky and MLB? R&F deserve better than WJFK.

This would be horrible. Sometimes day games start as early as noon, and since it's WJFK, count on 2 hours of pregame and 2 hours of postgame. When they play day games on the West Coast it would be between 3pm-3:30pm on the east coast. When they play night games on the west coast you can say goodbye to the Hideout.

Just when I thought baseball in DC couldn't be any gayer.

this is so stupid. the people who run JFK are idiots. why the hell would you disrupt a great show who i am assuming is gaining listenership for a sport that lasts a 1/2 year. plus, you know the team is going to suck a dick in its first year anyway. why don't they do what NYC does, and keep all sports on the AM.

UPDATE: At the end of the Don and Mike Show, Don mentioned this story and said that even though DCRTV gets a lot of stuff right, that this one was bullshit.
So - who do we believe? A Dee-Jay that said that Ron and Fez would be leaving WJFK when their contract expires, or a website that broke the news that R&F would be on in Baltimore almost 2 weeks before it was public?
Hmmmm...whom to believe...whom to believe...
R&F deserve better than WJFK.
Really??? A station that set them up to be syndicated in new cities and was there for them when WNEW wasn't??? Or maybe they can go to satalite where only a fraction of their current audience will be able to hear them, and they won't get paid as much.
Hmmmm...

How the hell would this help R&F?
They'd be bumped left and right for these stickball hacks.

Sorry Curtoid - the more I think about it the more it doesn't make sense that this would fly.
Contractually, with D&M in syndication (and to a lesser extent R&F so far), that WJFK wouldn't be able to get out of no providing shows to the other stations.
I don't know any of the details, but I would think that there are a minimum number of "new" shows that have to be available for airing and that there is a limited number of "best ofs".
Not only that, but WJFK has struggled for quite a while finding it's "voice" and I think adding another sports show that would cut into it's potentially prime moneymakers doesn't make good business sense.
As mentioned by JPMNICK, an AM station makes more sense for baseball anyway.
WJFK stands to make more money (I think) in the long run by trying to expand the R&F syndication and providing a solid 8 hours of programming with the D&M/R&F shows in tandem.

I didn't say I believed it - I just said that it appeared that someone within WJFK was flapping their gums again to DCRTV Dave.
I do like the idea of getting rid of O'Reilly, and in radio circles mid-days is considered a promotion.
Now, as far as day games go - how many weekday games are there really in the course of a season? Not that many. I know last year R&F were bumped several times for Monday, and Thursday, night football games.
I don't know - I find it interesting at the ver least.
One other problem would be those rare occasions, in September and October, when the Redskins and Baseball play at the same time.

There are at least two--Sports Talk 980 and Sports Talk 1260 (both owned by Clear Channel, and both have been broadcasting Orioles games for the last couple of years).

Problem:
One other problem would be those rare occasions, in September and October, when the Redskins and Baseball play at the same time.
Solution:
The cheerleaders from the football and baseball teams mudwrestle for the right to be aired.
What? No cheerleaders in baseball? Who the hell called it America's greatest pastime?

Sounds plausibale enough to me, even if it ends up being a rumour. I dont know enough about sports radio, but if read this, I'd have no problem thinking it had some merit.
NEVER stop bringing us the Info, Curtoid. I actually joined DCRTV way back but for some reason I hardly ever visit.
Did they ever bring up a Friday talk show where one of the Hosts and a guy from the Following show got so shitfaced they ended up one on top of the other in the brick corner outside the front door where everyone smokes?

No, but there are ball girls. I googled for an image the words baseball, ball, and girl and this is what I got:
