pretty much sums it up, but it was r&f who called him out first, asking when he started drinking. they timelined it to around the time of his surgery - that's when jen broke in.

I defer to DLK, and just tell you what my deal is:

Just got back from my Doctors for my monthly 'how am i doing thing'. I'll just say this; with no booze i lost 1 pound in 3; 360 to 240. in 2 years.

I was on Two High Blood Pressure Meds two years ago; now with none of those my BP was 110/70 an hour ago.

Sober fucking sucks; but it beats the way I was.

My doctor told me if I knew John Mehan [close, but not his real name], I said yep. Then he told me he dropped dead last week; and it was 100% booze related; liver failure. Hes exactly my age; 41.

My cousin died of the same thing a bit before I quit. His widow and the two kids who will only remember their Dad as a vague memory from when they are Toddlers are doing OK, but only just.

People quit when they wanna quit, and if they dont, sometimes they make it, and sometimes it kills them. If someone had told me at some points how bad off I was, I would have told them to fuck off. But two did; and I count them as my closest of friends. Did I listen to them? Nope. But it did wake me up a bit, and if I hadnt of woken up, I absolutely would not be alive now, and now I'm gonna shut up.
