10 Years Ago today...

One of the oddest days in my life...

* Woke up at 6am and went and got in line in downtown Washington for a Howard Stern booksigning; waited 6 hours (!)

* 2pm - Ran by the office, at the Kennedy Center, just to check in - I took the day off.

* 2:30 - Left the building, and just missed seeing a one car accident on the overpass that runs next to the building; two people dead - first time I see dead people, not in a funeral home.

* 3pm - Get on 95-South to go see my oldest god son for his 12th birthday (he turns 22 today!); what should have been a 45 minute drive was over an hour and half because of Friday traffic

* 4:30pm - As I pull into their neighborhood, the street is blocked for a Junior High School parade! I half expect to see David Lynch filming me as I have to park blocks away to walk over.

* 6:30pm - Leave Dale City and drive home; arrive a little before 7:30 in time for dinner with my then girlfriend and our mutual friend from college, who decided to spring on us that night that he is gay.

I didn't even remember it until a little while ago when I talked to the god kid to wish him a happy day; kind of freaked me out a bit to flash back like that.

OJ was on my mind.
I practically cried when Dazed & Confused left theaters.
My pants were WAY too baggy.
My pants hung WAY too low.
I was actually getting laid.
I had a beeper, but always kept it on vibrate.
I wore a huge gold hoop in my ear... ARRRRG!
You rarely saw a cell phone.
GEO cars and "Trackers" were everywhere.
Tupac and Biggie were both alive.
and...
I was a brash, selfish kid, on my way to college with no concept of my own limitations.

10 yrs later, I've only learned that I knew nothing then.

10 yrs from now, I suspect the same will be true.
