Caddyshack and Back to School were two comedy classics. Back to School I will be laughing at when I am 75.
Lets also not forget Rodney also had his comedy specials back in the 80's and found stars like Sam Kinison and Bob (football is my life....) Nelson.

Oh man, what crappy news to come home to. The guy's been a comedy fixture my entire life. Sad to see him go, but I guess his time had come. Besides being impossibly funny himself, he helped launched almost ALL of the major "superstar" comics that have made it in the last 20 years, from Jim Carrey to Jerry Seinfeld, thanks to his open house cable comedy specials.

During the past week, the entertainer emerged from a coma he had slipped into sometime after the operation, according to his wife, Joan. "When Rodney emerged, he kissed me, squeezed my hand, and smiled for the doctors," Joan Dangerfield said in a statement.

All class, right to the end.

There was a great article/interview with him in Rolling Stone a few months back. Worth tracking down.

And he had one of the best "Simpsons" guest spots..."I tell ya, I get no regard at all!"

I did have the chance to meet him once. It was after my prom and we all went to his club.
