gald to hear you're okay! i bet it took a little while to catch your breath...
i remember at around age 10 running full speed out into the street 'between two cars' when one of my older brothers friends was chasing me... i heard the screech then i looked at the people in the car, hooked a u-turn and ran straight to the back of my hallway where i sat for what seemed like a lifetime trying to get my breath back...

there are cars parked on the street so i cant really see the on coming traffic
So you didnt cross at a cross walk?
I see people all the time darting out from between parked cars. When you start driving Duke, your going to become expectant of certain behavior, and youll see that accidents happen when the unexpected happens. A month ago I was driving home and I was like 5 houses away from my house and some little kid, maybe 8 years old just comes out from between two parked cars and goes running right across and if it wasnt for my swift reaction, Id have run him over! The thing is, you cant always expect everyone to have the same reactin time and when you add cell phones and radios and other distractions that can divert a drivers attention, the chances are much higher for an accident. The best thing you can do to protect yourself is to cross in the designated area for pedestrians to cross the street.

My brother got ran over when he was maybe 9 or 10. He ran out between two parked cars and got clipped by a van, that ran over his leg (he was fine by the way, just had a really bruised leg).
We were living with my grandmother at the time, who promptly ran inside and screamed at my sister and I "YOU WERENT WATCHING HIM, AND NOW LOOK WHAT HAPPENED, IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!!". That was great. Then she went outside and started hyperventillating so they had to bring 2 ambulances, one for my brother and one for her.
We went to the ER and the first words my brother spoke to me were *nervous glances around ER* "I'm not wearing any underwear don't let them take off my pants".
He was fine... I can't believe he didn't have a broken leg.

Oh well, if you would have gotten hit you could have joined to cool "I've been hit by a car and lived to tell about it" club.
I'm the president. I got hit when I was in 2nd grade. I remember looking first and seeing a car but thinking I had enough time to cross. Next thing I remember I'm being carried to the house by my babysitter and I look back to the street to see all of my books strewn everywhere. My freaking neighbor hit me. I was OK though, nothing broke, just really bruised and I have a few scars, like the one on my chin where my teeth went through it. Ewww.
Glad you're OK, but be more careful. I hate freaking pedestrians who just stroll into the road.

A while back, prolly a few years, I hit a black guy in the street in the Bronx. I had just purchased one or 5 nickle bags in a local bodega, and as usual was tryin to get to the gas station for a few white owls.
A group of guys were walking s-l-o-w-l-y across the street, so I tapped on of em. Wasn't really a hit, more like a push. Thankfully, either none of them was carrying a gun, or (probably) my pathetic Pontiac 6000LE POS edition wasn't worth the bullets.
That is all.

Huh, never knew that rule. Duke knows I'm just adding friendly levity to his roadside manner. This however wasn't so serious based on the outcome. Hence, can we use a case by case basis. If it's a concrete ruling, I'll be sure to stand up and flight right jomo. But only in this forum. You can rest assured. Anyone see my dog?

I actually got clipped. It was probably about 4th grade. It was starting to rain and I was tear-assin' back home on my Stingray (highly modified)
I came to the corner of Maple and Brookside at an incredible rate of speed, blowing a stopsign...
Now the McTavish Postulate comes into effect;
WR+CB=0T
(Wet road + Coaster brakes = 0 Traction)
I went into a zero traction skid, saw the Delta 88 in mid right turn. I laid the bike down and slid through the intersection.
Delta Lady just managed to clip the ass-end of my bike.
She got out of the car to see if I was OK, but I just hauled-ass back home as quick as possible to change the shorts I had just greased!
