DrudgeReport.com (http://www.drudgereport.com) - Nikki Finke in Los Angeles is reporting that actor Christopher Reeve is dead, according to sources close to the actor. He died suddenly Sunday. News of his death has not been reported publicly yet. His family will make an announcement Monday at the earliest. Reeve was just mentioned Friday in the second live presidential debate by John Kerry. Noting he was a friend of the paralysed Reeve, Kerry said he was in favor of further stem cell research because Reeve could walk again one day thanks to such science.

If this is true, then this very sad. I always liked him not only for his role as superman, but for his will to live. it was an unfortunate accident that made him the way he is now, but he def. tried to make the best of it.

Holy crap... If this is true it's pretty unexpected. Wasn't he suppose to "get better" and there was a chance for a some recovery?

Jesus Christ... This is really sad. The guy was a genuinely good-hearted man who suffered through an injury with incredible strength. I really did hope that there would be a day when he could walk again in his lifetime. What a shame. And he was damn young too. Sheesh... Rest in peace Mr. Reeve.

I said it in the other post and I will say it here...

Wow. This man fought for life every step of the way. After being struck down by an accident he never gave up. I have nothing but respect for this man and he most certainly died way before his time.
Respect and condolences to his family.

And it looks like this makes #3 for celeb deaths.

#1-Janet Leigh
#2- Rodney Dangerfield
#2- Christopher Reeve

I'm truly shocked. This really sucks. I was hoping he would get better. He was coming up to 10 years since the accident (which was a shock to me as well)

Superman is one of the most beloved characters in our culture and his portrayal set the standard. Whenever you see anyone else play Kal-El you compare his to Chris Reeve, Even George Reeves!

Christopher Reeve is Superman.

Rest in Peace.

Edit:

Wow, that's an amazing picture.

But this has really put a downer on my day. On my show this weekend, I'm gonna pay tribute to Christopher Reeve. Too bad you guys can't hear it. Next year I'll be streaming online so that all the RonFez.net members can listen in.

Reeve as Superman was one of my first memories of watching movies and I just thought that it was so amazing to see this guy do everything so well and then all this tradgedy happens to him. It's a damn shame. My deepest sympathies for his family and friends.

Rest in peace, Christopher Reeve. You will be missed by all.

Man, this is awful. Poor guy seemed really decent, and he fought so hard to deal with the hand life had dealt him.

He may not have been the greatest actor, but man, each time I see "Superman" and he pulls open his shirt and we see the big red "S" and the John Williams score kicks in, it just gets me. I defy anyone to not have chills when they watch that.

Ripped from the DVD and sent to R+F. I dont know how big a fan they were, Ron wasnt a big fan of the movie, or at least the CGI, but again, having watched the whole frigging thing again last night, a spectacularly uneven film; the opening cornfield shots? None better to this day. Some of the SFX? Make ya cringe, but hey, DVDs gonna show every nuance.

But some of the scenes, his fathers death, and then, like everyone else said, a scene that works on so many levels; Nietzsche, the Homeric hero, and just the pure fucking testosterone; I mean, who doesnt wanna rip their suit off and fly off into the air to save the day?

Nice, Mike. Very nice.

Most of the first "Superman" film AND the second one were actually shot at basically the same time, and essentially could function as one giant film, which was apparently an initial possibility. I'd love to see a version like the "Godfather Legacy" that edits both films together...minus the stupid "Super Kiss" that somehow erases memories, of course.
