If this belongs in another forum, lock it and I'll post there, but I wanted to get the word out about this site. (http://www.optruth.org/main.cfm). It's a non partisan site about the war in Iraq and offers charities with which to support our troops there. It doesn't have a rose colored view of the war, and is run by veterans, so I don't recommend it for those who think everything is going just fine there. As a veteran who got lucky and served during 6 years of peace in the Reserves, this means a lot to me, so I hope you'll at least give it a view and let me know what you thought.

Pretty non-partisan, if you ask me (http://69.31.93.156/NotThere.wmv). The fact that they are raising 200k to get that ad aired tells me that their motivation isn't charity.

The ad hates on the war. It doesn't promote Bush, Kerry, or Nader. There are fellow nurses I work with that hate the war, but will still vote for Bush because they believe only he can handle it. Did you bother to check the "Support the troops" section? If not, here's a link. (http://www.optruth.org/main.cfm?actionId=globalShowStaticContent&screenKey=SoldierCharities&lnav=2) You'll find none of them have to do with the DNC.

Nice try, Fokker.

Karl Rove even managed to get a section on this site. Will he stop at nothing?

You know what, you're right, they are partisan. They're spokesman is Reform Party Gov Jesse Ventura.

Damn liber-conserva-tari-whatever the fuck they are.

I think a non-partisan ANYTHING having to do with the election is damn near an impossibility. When I first studied some of the history of science how nasty the back-biting partisanship, and 'good ole buys' club THEY can be, fuggetabouddit.

Thats why I dont comment much on the election, and really dislike politics in general. Its one enormous grey area.

=

But i'll say this. Remembering: Distrust anyone who wishes to teach you something...

Science sounds all high and mighty. It aint. You learn the Scientific Method, and thats a Ghastly Name, coz it sounds like its only for hoady-toady [?] scientists. Ack. Here's how science works:

First, we guess. Simple. We guess at something.

Then we experiment, and compare the results to the guess.

If the results of the guess disagree with experiment; it's wrong.

Wow I wish I'd authoured that, but I didnt. Anyway Feynman continues to say that's it. Thats really all it is. Then he stresses this. It doesnt matter WHO guessed, What there name is, who famous they are, what their title is: if it disagrees with experiment; it's wrong.

=

Now, a step further, and borrowing from Sagan. Can we see everything as an experiment? I can. We elect a president. His term is an experiement; lets see the results. Howd he do. And this opens it up a bit, coz you start to look past people and personalities and get downs to literally words and action:

'I'm the Education President."

Bullshit. How exactly? Whats your experiment gonna be, coz this one aint working so hot. I dont want vauge, ambiguus, obtuse, reductionist soundbites, I want specifics. Seems the only place to find them is in the voting record. If it comes out of someones mouth? Ugh. Bias.

You pick out clothes; you take a guess. You buy a car, its an experiment. That date the other week you might have had, how did that guess go? Did the results of That experiemtn pan out as you thought? Picking a major. Can I make it through the yellow light. Is this band any good. It's all an experiement. So is every nation.

And we went to war on a guess. Did it agree with experiment?

::looks at can of worms in one hand... can opener in other::

Wow nice ramble, Miguel.
