O & A's friends?

So I finally got around to listening O & A's first XM Broadcast today. Am I the only one taken aback by the discussion of their friends at Infinity? Anthony said he had none & Opie claimed to only have two, neither of which were named Ron or Fez. Was there a falling out between the members of the AFRO's show that I missed, or am I just reading too much into this?

He's an on air talent.

Regardless of what they didn't say, it's probably nothing that I'm looking too much into. I just wanted to make sure they didn't have a public falling out that I missed. It was most likely just an oversight on O and A's part, as they were in "we hate our old company" mode during the segment.

Could it be the fact that Ron and Fez act buddy-buddy with Don and Mike now, who it's apparent O and A still have a lot of venom for? And yes, I know Ron and Fez did so out of self preservation and they quite remind me of Princess Leia with Jabba the Hutt when dealing with Don and Mike. Or could it be the many "Opie Sucks" chants that started at Ron and Fez events?

In any event, it doesnt' matter much to me, the Reef is separate from the Island now.

O&A and R&F are two different shows with two different career paths. Just because they shared a month of cohosting a time slot doesn't mean they are tied forever together. R&F have been at this a lot longer than O&A, they know what they are doing, and they don't need to ride the coat-tails of a team that almost got them fired to succeed.

Don and Mike are on all three stations that R&F are on, and since they work after each other they (and the entire station) are encouraged to get along and play nice with everyone. However, as anyone who hears how the rest of the station talks about Bill O'Reilly, it shouldn't be a surprise that Ron and Fez do not pretend to be nice with any show out of "self preservation."

Next, because they can get along with D&M doesn't mean they are "buddy buddy."There are several shows on WJFK with a similar format, and Ron and Fez (being late in the day) will often reference D&M or Stern on how their take of a topical event.

They don't do the "crossovers" very often, because that's not how the different shows act - you also won't hear R&F on "The Hideout," even though Jefe and Dubs are part of the Ron and Fez Show.

R&F are hardly camped up inside D&M's asshole, sucking up to them. They reference a show that comes on before them in all three markets because they want to, and because they realize that in those three markets, many of their listeners also listen to the rest of the station, so it ties it all together.

If Ron and Fez really hated Don and Mike the way O&A told their fans to hate Don and Mike, then they would have nothing to do with them - either show. For almost 10 years D&M and G. Gordon Liddy worked in the same studio and never talked.

And as far as O&A spewing venom towards Don and Mike - who cares??? (a) That shit was old two years ago, just like their complaining about Stern, and (b) they are on XM Radio; they might as well be broadcasting in another country, in relation to their relevance.

What events did that happen? I've been to "many" R&F events and have never heard that. In fact, the last Dave and Busters there was a guy they brought on stage for a skit who was wearing a green "WOW" shirt.

In any event, it doesnt' matter much to me, the Reef is separate from the Island now.

Maybe it was the island that was dragging the reef down all along.

Just a side note on this. I listened to O&A's show yesterday and a listener called in during the program and asked about their relationship with Ron and Fez. Opie and Anthony were both very complimentary of them, and that they plan to work again with them one day.

I've been having computer problems of late at home, though if I do get the chance tonight I'll see if I can make a sound file of that particular call and put it up or give it to Mikey to add to the file library so that anyone who wants to hear it can listen.

I remember hearing that Opie/Anthony have the same agent as Ron/Fez. I'm thinking that still is the case. I think there may be a little bitterness on R+F part because O&A literally spelt the end for R&F when they got fired, because it was just a matter of time before WNEW changed formats. (and again and again and again). The shows will be connected because of in NY, they were on at the same time and helped each other.

O&A are dicks so they can be hard to work with, so I understand if R+F are ticked. O&A however do NOT cross promote with anyone, from their days in Boston to their days in NY. The ONLY other radio show they said anything good about was R+F. The only one that they had on was R+F and they did cross promotion when the shows were on (Fooseball Table, AFRO Show, the last show after the Sex for Sam Ron was at his FUNNIEST when he called in and they couldn't talk about it).

Either way, they are working for different companies and who knows behind the scenes how they feel about each other.

There was a R+F night at the Hard Rock over a year ago (not sure when) when they said that "Opie and Anthony will announce their return", Opie didn't show up and Anthony did. (with his incredibly hot girlfriend...) There was a brief Opie sucks chat there.

The best R+F at the Hard Rock was when they returned to NY after going to washington and did a show and brought back al dukes, billy staples, etc.

As for what the two shows fans think, obviously Curtoid is ANTI-O&A from all his comments, which is his right, but there is crossover and otherwise if that wasn't the case, why would this even come up? Also, why would there be a link below?

I've listened to most of the O/A shows since they restarted on XM. Technical difficulties etc. aside, IMO, the show has lost it's edge. There have been a few hilarious spots (from Norton and Anthony(Calling the lady on the Tony Danza line - brilliant)) - as usual, nothing from Opie. The WNEW show had the FCC edge to push against. The show now has no 'decency' restrictions so they have to actually be entertaining. The wiffle ball bat challenge ain't gonna cut it as edgy when there's no FCC regs to dance around. Just growing pains I guess.

Ron and Fez are professionals - they aren't bitter. It's not like Opie and Anthony set out to screw R&F over - that's the only way they'd be bitter.

They've been in the business a long time and know that shit happens. I'm sure they consider themselves friends w/ O&A, even though they don't work with them anymore, talk about them, or run in the same circles, as they do with any number of people they've worked with over the years.

Just by observation, the only person that Ron has a true problem with in the whole Sex for Sam thing is Mercurio.

Mercurio showed up at Bar 9 as WNEW was dying it's last breaths, and the look that Ron gave him was pure, unadulterated laser death-beam. I've never seen that look on Ron's face before.

i can attest to physcially being there and hearing the opie sucks chant.

I also want to remind everyone that in between the time OA got suspending, and present time, there was at least a years worth of tuesday's that Ron & Fez and crew, plus fans all met up at bar 9 to see brother joe. who is anthony's brother (correct me if i'm wrong, i'm quite absentminded) anyway that's another way for you lunatics to connect RF to OA.

Personally I believe they're friends, in the you're in the business, we're int he business, respect, we work well together kind of way. but niether one of the two needs the other to be successful, nor have they ever needed that. and as it's already been pointed out several times, they're completely different shows.
