So, I was leafing through the new Jets catalog that my buddy C-Dawg lent to me. After cleaning the drool off my chin when I realized that they are now offering Gastineau and Kelcko throwbacks, I turn the page and see that the Jets are now offering an On-The-Field wedding package.

Here's what you get:

A suite for 22 people, with food and drinks.

100 Guest reception in the nearby bubbledome, with food, drinks, and a DJ. The guests will be permitted on the field for the ceremony at Halftime.

Limo service for the wedding party.

Custom designed Jets Bridal Gown (!)

Custom designed Jets Bridesmaid dresses (!!)

Authentic Jets jerseys for the Groom and Ushers (!!!)

Photographer and videographer.

Honeymoon of airfare, hotel, and tickets to a Jets roadgame the week after the ceremony.

Choice of Two Jets Alumni to attend the ceremony.

<img src="http://www.projo.com/blogs/shenews/photos/namath.jpg">

"You may now kiss the bride." "DON'T MIND IF I DO!"

Total cost: 50,000 total.

So the first question is, for a 100 guest wedding, is that expensive?

Second question: Would you ever do this?

Third question: What wacky wedding hijinks have you seen or taken a part of?

Please tell me that question was a joke. Take away a zero and then it's more like it.

Sadly enough, 50k is not terribly expensive for a 100-guest wedding in the metropolitan area. I'd say it's midrange.

If there's any chance they could get Freeman McNeil to show up I'd say its cheap.

If I was a diehard Jets fan and so was she then I would think about it. Its different and definitely not boring. Does that include open bar? B/C her family is Puerto Rican and they lika da corona and courvossier?sp? on one side and Irish on the other so if there's no open bar I could see that getting up to about 60,000 (100 people X 100 bucks = 10,000). I am not having little brats at my wedding.

so the first question is, for a 100 guest wedding, is that expensive?

For 100 ppl thats $500 a person. That's pretty expensive, even for metro NY area. I called the Marriott Marquis and the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan when I was planning my wedding, and they wanted around $200 a person for an evening weekend wedding.

I'd say average in NY Metro area for a reception you're going to pay anywhere from $90-$250 depending on location, time of year, food, open bar, etc.

My friends wedding cost $40k but that was for 200 people.

Second question: Would you ever do this?

Hells no.

Third question: What wacky wedding hijinks have you seen or taken a part of?

There's always hijinx at my families weddings. At my Aunt's wedding, we were on the third floor of a hotel with a pool on the bottom floor. My uncles proceeded to get incredibly drunk, ate the flower centerpieces off the tables, and then jumped off the balcony from the 3rd floor into the first floor pool with their tuxedos on and almost got the entire party kicked out of the hotel. My Aunt was not pleased.

really bad idea ... worse than proposing at a game ...

you can have themes for birthday and college parties ... weddings should not ...

this is almost as bad as a klingon wedding ...

Choice of...Jets Alumni to attend the ceremony

If they can dig up the corpse of Weeb Eubank, slap a tux on him and prop him up in the corner somewhere holding a "Best Wishes Jim & Kathy" sign...then its well worth the money.

If you are an uber jets fan and have the means to pull it off, of course. But you have to realize that the other 80,000 people in the stadium are going to boo and heckle the shit out of you.

By the power vested in me by the state of New Jersey, I pronounce you man and wife....

Mr. Gastineau, you may now punch the bride.

Top of the Pyramid.

I want to stress that I am not doing this and I have no interest in doing this. I just thought the fact that it was offered was very interesting.

I think you guys are missing out on some things that offset the cost.

The Jets are paying for airfare and hotel for your honey moon. That's another 2000 bucks, easy.

DJ = 500 bucks.

The authentic jerseys - 300 bucks per jersey, for 5 people - 1500 bucks.

Photographer/Videographer = 500 bucks.

Limo Service = ???

The Guest Suite = Another couple thou.

The dresses = No idea how much they are worth.

That 100 dollar a head price is just for rental of the place and dinner. The Jets are offering a LOT more at 500 bucks per head.
