They just started XStream. It's in the early stages of development, so I don't think there's a way to get it working on a Mac yet... But they are offering free 3-day trials, XM202 included.

So is O & A only going to be available for a limited time then after you make the X-Stream purchase? After said limited time are they only going to be available on the XM Radio Unit itself?
Thanks!
Come to think of it, I almost forgot the O & A were back on the air. How is the show so far for those who have been listening on a daily basis?

the show is good. i feel that neither ron and fez or O&A are the same show as they were 3 years ago when i feel like both shows were at a peak.
O&A hate all the callers now and never really go to the phones anymore. they have a lot of hicks and truck drivers that listen who contribute nothing.
they are also more tired and kind of primadona-ish. They have quite a battle brewing with stern coming, and i have to say from show 1 through the most recent show they have been much better. the show is good, but not great.

Hit the nail on the head. The callers suck, but the feedbackers are hilarious. O&A's callers are sounding suspiciously like D&M's or R&F's.
And let's be honest, the quality of R&F's callers went straight to the shitter when they went to DC.
<center><img src="http://s95227862.onlinehome.us/sigs/chadsig1.jpg"></center>
If I have to listen to another goddamn trucker call in to O&A or another "good buddy" joke I might shoot myself. That stuff was funny for like 15 minutes.

LOL. I fuckin' hate the trucker callers. They really add nothing to the show.
But one thing that really impresses me about them is that they know when a character has bottomed out and they move on. As opposed to people like Stern who push the same tired ass characters that he has for the past 25 years. Enough of the Daniel Carvers, Elephant Boys, High Pitch Eric, Beetlejuice, etc, they stopped being funny long long ago.
I also love the new Frenchy, and Norton fucking rocks.

the truckers do suck, but they have no choice but to entertain them and take calls because they are a huge chunk of subscibers. kind of like how after they got syndicated in new york, opie tried to get "ghetto". before that they trashed minorities.

Old Frenchy = Sucks
New Frenchy = OK. Not great.
Norton = Absolutely fucking amazing. His comedy has benefitted the most being off terrestrial radio.
If you've seen recent pictures of Anthony, he looks like a zombie with AIDS. Extremely gaunt and unhealthy.
(And he claimed after his heart scare that he cleaned up his act. I remember how healthy he looked at the Halloween 2002 party, so who knows)
News from the show:
the current cast is O&A, Norton, Martini Steve, Ben (producer), and Sexbagel, showing that posting on message boards pays off.
The callers are atrocious, but that's to be expected. The usual formula of a typical phonecall is 30 seconds of the caller either saying it's great to have them back and/or they haven't heard of them and they just turned on their XM.
The feedbacks are great, but that's because they have a level of editorial control over them, plus truckers can't feedback.
I feel a war coming on between trucker fans and internet fans.

My guess? O&A will be free online as a marketing scheme to get people to buy into the satellite unit, because they'll want to listen in their cars.
O&A will be part of xstream for at least a month or so, and then maybe a dollar premium charge. Who knows.
Maybe they'll work the accounts that if you already have O&A, you'll get the stream for free.
I got the stream because I can't get XM reception in my office and I'd rather just pay the 3 bucks then deal with it.

It's hard for them to get going because they cannot use anything from the Infinity days...from what I've heard, they can't even do like Tom Brokow or Dice Clay because technically it belongs to Infinity.
Since they can't do call backs to earlier funny stuff....they are kinda flat. Mornings I think also have something to do with it.
Yes, the callers have a lot to be desired, and Yes, the Ron and Fez callers got less funny after they left NY.
Norton rules. O&A always win in the end.

Everyone who thinks back fondly to salad days of their old callers need to move on and/or realize that not everyone was so in love with the tiny circle jerk of sycophants that they always went to; the same "greatest callers" that always made it on the air, turned off many first time listeners, especially in other markets.
As someone else mentioned, these show rise and fall on what the hosts are able to do with the callers - one of the reasons I've not minded R&F move and challenge with callers that don't always get their show right away. I actually see that as a positive thing - showing both their growth, but also what has made them unique even before "peaking" in New York.
Except for Norton. I agree that being off terrestrial radio has benefitted him. He was, without a doubt, the funniest thing on the show.
Wasn't he always?
It's hard for them to get going because they cannot use anything from the Infinity days...from what I've heard, they can't even do like Tom Brokow or Dice Clay because technically it belongs to Infinity.
I claim "bullshit" on that. That would be like Ron and Fez not able to do the stuff they did in Florida, like Nature Boy, because it was for another station, or Stern, who has reached plenty to his WNBC, DC 101 and earlier days, to recreate material.
They may not be able to replay old shit, but who cares? There are dozens of ftp sites out there with same 3 dozen bits all of their fans have heard and traded.
In either case, its a crutch.
While I believe more time and additional material under their belt will help, they fucking had 2 years to come up with some new shit - the news/spin about them should have been how much better they are now, not how they beat Howard Stern to Sat radio, playing that off as an outstanding accomplishment.

Not true...both have already made "appearances" on the new show.
Kinda off topic, but are O&A pro-bush? I know Norton is.
From what I've heard, both wish there was a third choice, but Ant will be voting for Bush & Op will be voting for Kerry...if either actually votes.
They may not be able to replay old shit, but who cares? There are dozens of ftp sites out there with same 3 dozen bits all of their fans have heard and traded.
In either case, its a crutch.
I don't think they're looking to use their old stuff as crutch, but rather they're slowly rebuilding the show. The old show was such a community feeling, filled with inside jokes, callback, etc., that they must constantly stop themselves & go backwards to explain an old event, bit, song, etc. And that's awfully hard to do without the benefit of having the bit, song, etc., to play.
It would be nice to introduce the show to the XM community in the same way they introduced new markets during the early days of syndication. They talk about something that they did previously, then play an old bit, song, or something to help explain. But without their WNEW material, it's difficult to do without over explaining & becoming boring. Personally, I have no complaints about the new show & gladly pay to be entertained by them since there's no one left on terrestrial radio (at least not in my market) to do so for free.
Ron & Fez' move to DC was a smooth transition to a new place, where they had already had a little bit of time to build a fan base. Not that I don't think that Ron & Fez could have rebuilt their show from scratch, because I honestly believe they are two of the funniest, most talented people in entertainment today. They're constantly able to keep their fans (myself included) laughing their/our asses off, regardless of crappy situations, restraints, or lack of backing for the show. They're just naturally funny, gifted entertainers and perhaps more savvy then O&A.
You obviously can't stand O&A for some reason known only to you and refuse to pass up any opportunity to bash them, or at the very least throw them a subtle insult. But, again, who cares? Right?

Yeah, but they're so used to it, they mess up constantly. They tried the first few days to give it a new name and/or avoid calling it Instant Feedback, but that went out the window. If they do remember to not call it Instant Feedback, they usually refer to it as email, or try to go with the joke name Immediate Feedback, or not reference where the comments come from at all.

Talk about thin skinned and paranoid...I thought I made it clear that I thought that with some more time and shows under their belt that they would be fine and find their groove back.
However, how is what I have said less relevant than those who confuse this website for another Opie and Anthony message board, and have complained themselves about this or that? How is me saying that Norton has always been the funniest thing about O&A so earth shattering flaming? I bet you don't have a problem when an O&A fan pees on Stern, Don and Mike or their listeners.
This is, after all, a message board for a radio show that is still on the air - not a tribute site (http://ronandron.com). Ron and Fez are on the air in three different markets that (with the exception of Washington, where O&A were 18th) Opie and Anthony were not heard to begin with. And thanks to the SU, R&F can still be heard by their most hard core of fans from the WNEW days - so thanks to this website, they continue to be relevant everywhere.
Nevertheless, as long as people want to come on here and try to continue to drag Ron and Fez back into the past by tearing down the present, then I see nothing wrong with voiceing my observations - which, while maybe not flattering towards O&A, haven't been as caustic as those that that routinely bash Don and Mike - a show which is heard in all three markets Ron and Fez are currently heard, and whose fans are more than likely are giving Ron and Fez a chance.

Good argument, but don't forget who helped Ron and Fez get that audience in the first place, maintain it, and then make Infinity realize they were such a valuable property that they didn't fire them when they were cleaning out WNEW.
Here's a hint: It wasn't Don and Mike.
Back to my observations on the show...
1) I'm not a big fan of the morning show. I would much rather hear it on the drive home, and then have the replays start after that and cycle through the day.
2) It's true they cannot use a wide variety of sound clips. Anything that was done live on WNEW's air (i.e. the "OK Terrific!" drop, anything done by Sandy Kane, all the Dice Clay call-ins, etc) cannot be touched. However, O&A have prefaced this "for the time being", so who knows.
However, Ant can do all his impressions and they can still use drops from movies, TV, etc.
Which brings us to the attacks on Howard.
3) O&A, when doing their attacks on Howard, it can be funny, but it can also be repitive. However, they're using drops from private parts, and when Anthony gets on a roll with the Private Parts drops, it's hysterical.
4) Apparently, Ant is relying heavily on the Springsteen impression, which shocks the hell out of me, considering how rough it can be on the throat.
5) Have not heard Reagan done at all.
6) Is it just me, or does it seem like Opie's single? There's been zero mention of Sandy, and considering Rick's no longer with the show... ahhh, fuck it. Not my concern.

BTW have they been stopped from playing the clips from Howards movie Private Parts? It seems like Op mentioned on one show that they heard from an insider that Howard was pissed that they're playing the clips, and then lately they haven't been playing them. Even when they talk about him.

Blah blah blah blah! Holy fuck Curtoid, see if you can type a novel about it next time. I hope the Crippler, a long time, great R/F fan beats the piss out of your brain. The only thing you said that I agree with is how bad some of us hate D/M. They suck infected vag with a silly straw. The thing you don't understand is we like good comedy and when together these shows were both better, at their peak. Oh yah, how's the 'Bart Saga' or his wife doing. What a fucking show!

How can I forget, when there's so many O&A fans here to remind me! (said in my best loud Ron Bennington voice).
Seriously, I know, and have said, that NY's fanbase is due to O&A. However, they got the attention of (then) Washington's WJFK program director, Jeremy Coleman, because of their days in Florida - they were an established, known, proven success. They were fortunate to hit it off with O&A - it made things easier - but Ron and Fez can make it work anywhere.
And my whole point was this is not a tribute site to a show that doesn't exist anymore; it's a living, breathing show that goes out every night, and the reality is many of the new listeners they are trying to attract, more than likely listen to Stern and Don and Mike, and have never even heard of O&A. It's not a slam on O&A - it's not meant to be - those aren't my hidden agenda. That's the real life situation they are in today.
And if I keep popping up in these threads it's simply because I find it hypocritical that the mods will lock a thread on The Hideout, a show that currently works closely with Ron and Fez, because there is already a Hideout thread, but lets the O&A threads have free reign over this board.

Ironic you should use those words...

Ok terrific.
(a) I gave an observation; I did not slam O&A;
(b) I did point out this was not an O&A message board - am I wrong about that?
(c) I gave an opinion different from those who have buried Ron and Fez; I got slammed for it; I defended myself; I tried not to take it personal;
(d) I fucking said that R&F's hardest core listeners were still in New York;
(e) This all started because I called bullshit - along with SofaKingWhat - on the comment that O&A were not allowed to do certain bits - something that, for whatever reason, took hours to confirm - even though there are plenty of people on here who say they listen;
(f) Where did I claim to be a Don and Mike fan, much less a listener?
Sheeeesh - pointless.
I am not the one with the agenda here.
Stop living two years ago.
And if Crippler gets offended because I said "thin skinned and paranoid," then I apologize and hope if he is ever in DC he doesn't beat my ass, but rather go out for drinks in Fairfax.

I hardly think that's the case. I think the mods do a pretty good job of keeping O&A threads down to as few as possible There are various reasons for the different threads that are currently active and I think they are correct in keeping them the way they do.
However I do agree with you regarding the Hideout. I think the board is geared more towards the New York audience because that is a majority of the people on the board. I suggest if you want to see more people from the DC and other markets on the board then folks who are on the board in those areas need to represent for the board and maybe suggest having DC board events. I never see that suggested. I mean it could be happening though I never see it. I never see posts by people in the DC area suggesting that DC board members hook up somewhere and hang out. Not nearly to the extent that I see folks in New York suggesting going to bars, or having Christmas parties and whatnot. I believe those kinds of things help bring people together and if suggested by more DC board members could help bring more folks into the fold. I mean how many board events have there been in New York without Ron and Fez even being present? I've been to quite a few like that.
What I'm getting at, is that if there was more of a presence by DC listeners on the board perhaps more threads about The Hideout would have their place. Again I agree with you. The boys and The Hideout are very close and I wish there were more topics about their shows.

you want to correct my capital letters too?
I typed it in two seconds, so lick my balls! If you want to compare intellect, i hardly think this is the venue douche. But if you'd like to, I'll meet for that beer and slam it down your throat.
