Does anyone else here have a big fear of hospitals and being in them?? I, myself go through times where I can become a hypochondriac constantly worrying about things, and the thought of being in a hospital just totally creeps me out. It probably also has to do with me spending time in the hospital back in march when i had my kidney stone. My grandma went into the hospital last thursday and ended up having her spleen taken out, she's doing fine now and feeling better but am nervous about going to the hospital tommorow to see her. I feel obligated to go. Does anyone else feel this way sometimes about going to hospitals??

I used to visit various hospitals all the time with my old job. I've been to the ER, in-patient unit, the clinic, medical and psych ward, etc. At first I used to feel like you (especially visiting the psychiatric unit), but after awhile you get used to it. Eventually, I learned all the in's and out's of the various hospitals that I didn't have to flash an ID all the time and got comfortable going to each one.

I feel very uncomfortable in Hospitals. We visited my girlfriends cousin when she had her baby and I almost had a panic attack. Im not a hypochondriac at all, its just one of those places that freak me out. Airports also do it to me.
Im glad your Grandma is doing ok.

before i lost my faith, i used to be a eucharist minister in high school ...
part of the program was to visit hospitals and offer the sacred host to the sick ...
i did it once ... spent about an hour there and saw nothing but dying grandmas and sick, lonely folk -- just awful ...
i completely lost it when i saw a girl with a dozen tube and machines connected to her ... she looked like my age and it just freaked me out ...
hate hospitals, and i hate sick people for getting sick in the first place ...

ever since i broke my leg and had to spend a week in the hospital it would make me very uncomfortable to be in one. when my great grandmother was dying i had to go visit her for the last time and i remember being very uncomfortable, not only because it was so sad to see her that way but just too be in the halls of a hospital again and the sites and the smells really brought back bad memories.
i got my rdd and screws out earlier this year in the same hospital i stayed in then, again brought bacl all the horrible memories of that accident.
i try to do anything it will take to stay away from hospitals.
