Ben Affleck has made an astonishing swipe at long-term pal, director Kevin Smith - accusing him of exploiting teenage fans of his cult films. Affleck has appeared in five of Smith's films, starting with 1995's Mallrats and most recently this year's Jersey Girl. But Smith was reportedly upset Affleck snubbed the DVD launch of Jersey Girl - and Affleck has hit back while publicizing new movie Surviving Christmas. He told The Scoop, "It wasn't enough that I went to Vegas to play in his lame charity poker tournament for the DVD launch of Jersey Girl, but I also had to go out to his f***ing store where he's opening a store where all he's doing is selling more T-shirts of him and his jacka** friend (Jason Mewes) and he's roped in an entire generation of kids into thinking it's worth spending $30 on and $50 if he signs it. I mean the whole thing is a complete travesty and he wanted me to participate in it and I won't do that."


Is Ben joking? I just watched the Jersey Girl DVD over the weekend and after listening to the commentary (there are 2, one with Kevin and Ben, the other with Keving, Jason Mewes and Scott Mosier. Jason and the story's of Liv Tyler and LOTR are great) And the Ben/Kevin interview I can't see why there would be bad blood.

Ben even jokes around about Kevin's store (Says he sounds like that QVC guy, selling Bookends with Kevin's visage on it. "$80. It's porcelain!")

Oh I don't know, one bad movie does not a downturn make. (I'm speaking of Kevin Smith). And I really didn't think Jay and Silent Bob was a bad movie on it's own merits. I mean it was successful enough. But Ben Affleck, he's having serious troubles picking good movies. I honestly don't think he's a horrible actor, but there are a limited amount of roles he can play, and not enough scripts that work within his range.

SKW, I shit you not, I did like Armageddon. I never really thought about the plot in terms of teaching the astronauts how to drill, and you bring u p a good point.

However, Buschemi, Liv, Bruce, the fat guy, the big black guy, the cowboy. Big nose Wilson's line about the situation being something along the lines of it being the worst situation you could possibly imagine makes me laugh every time.

Kevin Smith created a following on his own, clerks was the equal to what Sam Raimi did with Evil Dead. Give him time he has SOOOOO much more potential than Ben.

Daredevil sucked and Armegeddon was good because of the many A list actors they stuck in there.

The only role I liked with Ben in was Chasing Amy and that was a Kevin Smith film.

I do own the Criterion DVD of that movie. I think it's funny as hell that Criterion put that out, they also did "The Rock" but I passed on that one.

I own the movie on DVD:

I love Steve Buschemi and Owen Wilson in just about anything they are in Even in Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller Movies.

I like Bruce Willis, Liv Tyler and Michael Clarke Duncan.

I think Billy Bob Thornton and William Fichtner are wonderful actors (both underused in this movie)

Jessica Steen is very hot (Michael Clarke Duncan, Steve Buschemi and Owen Wilson mention this during the training in the hanger scene)

You even get Peter Stormare (From Fargo and a 1000 other films) and Keith David (From "They Live" and "There's something about Mary")

But with all that, it's still a Michael Bay movie and he and his shaky-cam stlye of "filmmaking" sucks so much ass. But that's okay. It's just not a good film.
