Today I recieved an email from the admin stating the company didn't mind that people either showed up late or left early so they could vote. It was a company wide email. (we have like 20 people in our company...)

As a joke, I wrote back, "Don't forget to vote Kerry :)" yes the smiley face was included.

The CEO chastised me via email for using company email to pursue personal political agendas and a handful of other employees said I had "big balls" for doing something like that.

Maybe I'm wrong here, but who the FUCK cares? You're not fucking Price Waterhouse, you're a small webshop in downtown manhattan with 20 people in a dingy little office living off capital investments in a product that hasn't even launched yet.

You're not a CEO if you're board sits in the same room as you.

You're not a CEO if you're company has 20 people.

The stock options you gave me are not worth the paper they're printed on. Why? Because you're not a publically traded company, and being that you have no product to sell, i don't see that happening anytime soon.

What the hell is up with corporate politics??!?!

I can understand if i was working for a fortune 500, but if you're going to be a rigid prick while you're company is small, I can just imagine what's gonna happen later....

I hate people who don't know the power of the smiley face.

well, working for the government, I am forbidden from campaigning for a candidate for any office, and rightly so.

And I think your boss is right. What does the size of the company matter? So if I work for Microsoft I should conduct myself differently than furie inc. the size of the company shouldn't effect the code of ethics.

If it was Berkshire Hathaway, I would see your boss's point, but I agree with you on this one. My deli has more employees than this company.

I think I'm going to create a company just to call myself the CEO.

But you have to mix the title in with your name = ScatCameo. It's like you were doing a low budget shit porn and all of a sudden there's Bronson Pinchot getting shat on! You would fucking rule, ScatCameo!

in work you should only talk 'of' politics but never mention specifically who you are voting for or try to suggest who someone else should vote for...

it's just reality that Politics divides and angers rational people ( like discussions of religion ) and they don't want heated arguments in work that may lead to physical altercations...

EDIT: Just because the boards Politics Forum is full of love, understanding, and tolerance doesn't mean it's practiced elsewhere...

My own experience:
It's pretty awkward to be in the military and be not exactly pro Bush. The thing that pisses me off about it is the lack of facts so many people have on this subject. I mean, the CiC cut our combat pay after sending us into combat, and they still love him.

Yep, you are wrong here. And when the wrong person cares, people get fired.

Assume there is someone out there that doesnt wish to read things like that, imagine the boss writing something like FUCK YOU NAZ... oh wait.

As an office we discuss politics all the time at lunch etc., but I think it's an unspoken ruled that you just never say out loud (or write) that you should or shouldn't vote for anyone even if it's a joke.

If your boss had said, "during the holiday season it's ok for everyone to take a half day to take care of family and personal obligations", a response like "don't forget to go to mass" wouldn't be appropriate either.

It's work. It sucks. It pays the bills. I'd just take a long lunch, come back drunk and vomit in his waste basket.
