According to article on parents.wwe.com posted earlier today, WWE is introducing two new Arab-American characters on Monday Night RAW. Muhammad Hassan and Khosrow Daivari are U.S. citizens who have grown up in America. They love their country. However, they now face a new and different kind of relationship with their fellow U.S. citizens as a result of being Arab-American in a United States still struggling with the tragic events of September 11, 2001. RAW will explore the challenges Hassan and Daivari face as Hassan tries to make his mark as a new WWE Superstar under the guidance of Daivari as his manager.


First time I've ever read a warning about a new superstar debuting.

I didn't see anything bad with his promo, most wrestlers use their heritage (Lance Storm, Rikishi, Guerreros, Regal, Rhyno, Grenier..) in their gimmicks. Just some ignorant people are going to be mad he said "Praise Ala".

...and it is going to be interesting how this plays out. Of course, shame on the WWE for playing on the Sept. 11 tragedy. I see where they are going with this as the WWE has to know that MOST not ALL of wrestling fans are the lowest common denominator and just because a guy is Arab they will scoff and boo and yell and piss and moan just cause of their ignorance. Obviously it LOOKS as if he is being portrayed as a heel but you never know. He could come off like a face and just cause of the fan behaviour be a heel. Should be interesting.

I welcome this. I find it quite cathartic to take out your stress booing Arab and/or Muslim characters rather than see it build inside or manifest itself in random violence. Wrestling doesn't create society, it reflects it, and personally I find the Arab characters to be long overdue. I'd LOVE to go and boo these bastards.

Just be terrorists, no need to evoke the specifics of 9/11 though please. To answer a question Vince once asked, we get it.

I would rather see this guy show his skills in the ring. And I would prefer to see the whole Arab/Islamic thing take a back seat. The only way I could really see him going face would depend on the presence of a good current heel. Angle could pull it off very well, only he's on Smackdown.

Pretty much any time a character is asking the audience for silence or respect (usually while he sings a country's anthem other than the US) than he's a heel.
