last night before i went to bed i had a glass of red wine. this morning i woke up and felt as if i had two bottles worth. my headache was most severe around my eyes, forehead, and temples and at times i became nauseous but never vomited...

do you ever become nauseous due to a bad headache and if so why do you think that happens?

Might be red wine; which has a few dozen things in it that cause headaches for some.

But nausea with a headache? Thats a symptom of a possible concussion, or a couple other nasty things, and that's go to ER time.

Oh; and Funk, the answer to 'why' is it is the bodies reaction to a lot of stuff; radiation exposure, toxins [like Ethanol!], and a real good shot to the head [concussion] often induce nausea; the body doesnt know whats wrong, so it eliminates possibilities, and having some bad shit in your stomach is one of them, so the body say 'lets get rid of that to be sure' and people puke. Can even be brought on by something emotional.

I'm not an MD, nor do I play one on TV, but Headache + Nausea are treated as pretty serious.

bad headaches with nausea minus the wine can be migranes, i get them at least once a week. the best thing for a migrane is to take tylenol put a hot cloth over your eyes (you will be sensitive to light) and go back to sleep. and definitely go see your doctor.

thanks Mike and BooBoo, i'll have to keep an eye on it

it's happened on several occassions over the past several years. i believe i got a good dose of 'heat stroke' about 3 years back ( i spent almost 10 hours helping a neighbor put a fence in in over 90 degree/high humidity/blaring sun conditions) which included mixing cement by hand, using the post hole digger, and such. I had gotten the most severe headache i've ever experienced and actually got really concerned about it, but after so many hours it subsided. It seems since that day i am more sensitive to working out in the heat and start to feel headaches after a couple hours (if exerting myself)

Again, forget all of this and see a doctor, but the working outside thing could be dehydration, which is also what booze does to ya; which is why ex-boozehounds like me always knew about chugging water to help the hangover.

Might wanna do a food log; sounds stupid, but it's SOP for my students in the past who have had similar probs, some find a food they like, for some reason, gives em a headache.

Tomatoes just destroy me. Even pizza; if I have more then a couple of slices, I know my night is gonna be one where my mind says:

"OK! Lets think up the Most Fucked Up things EVER and just keep them Whizzing around the brain at 300 mph so the fucker never catches any ZZZZZZs', and I twist and turn, and sleep that shitty sleep.

I've heard the same for white wine as well. Though strangly enough some red wines will give me tooth aches and others won't. I don't quite understand why but by the time I'm done with the bottle I'm too numb to feel anything anyway. Like Mike the T said, some wines have different things in them than others so it's possible something in the wine just didn't agree with you at all. Yet you can have the same wine from a different company and have no affects. It's strange.

theres a family of chemicals called Sulfites in some [all? i dont think so, but...] Red Wines and this stuff for some, induces Migraines like a hammer to the skull.

you are not alone. This happens to me all the time. Ill wake up witha pounding headache from drinking the night before. Then if I dont get something to get rid of it ASAP I get sick and vomit. I continue to do that if I dont get something to get rid of the headache.
