I really don't think he is to blame for their record. He's purely a victim of circumstance.

He's very much to blame for their record. Other teams don't have people get hurt?

He was a terrible coach with the Bears, he was a terrible coach with the Dolphins. I don't think he get another head coaching job.

i always thought he 'knew somebody' to get a head coaching position. some guys are just cut out and can excel in other areas like quarterback coach or offensive line coach, etc etc etc

The best coach is the one that has the best players. Vince Lombardi couldn't pull the Dolphins out of the cellar.

I don't think that anyone could save the Dolphins with all their problems, specifically the ones that popped up this year. With that being said, Wannstedt is a bad head coach who was on the hot seat before Williams quit and before Boston got hurt. I think that Wannstedt is a decent Defensive Coach, but not a good head coach and should stick with the coordinating. Wasn't Wannstedt one of Jimmy Johnson's patsies back in the day?

of course other teams players get hurt, but other team's franchise players don't get up and retire at a young age just so they can travel to fiji for a month and smoke pot, quitting on their team all to slyly move past a league drug violation, leaving them virtually without an offensive weapon.

you're absolutly right MH, i'm certainly not "defending" Wannstedt here as I think he serves better as a corrdinator than as a head coach. However, I am saying that I don't think ANY coach could have pulled a better record than 1-8 with these scrubs that call themselves the Dolphins. The staff could have included Lombardi, Parcells, Gibbs and Belichek.........I still think these losers would be 1-8. I'm just saying he's a victim of circumstance because the talent he has on the club right now is so poor that there's virtually no way for him to win, and due to that the media has really given this guy a harder time than he deserves.
