I just heard that this girl I know from back home, her mother died from a brain tumor. I'm planning on sending a card, but I've never been good with this stuff. What do you write when it comes to this stuff?

I say, leave out the "I'm sorry" parts.
I know it's typically what people say when they hear bad news but, regardless, it IS out of place.
Just be direct & sincere.
"You're family is in my thoughts" "Please dont hesitate to call me if you need anything..." etc etc.
