I was just reading an article on MSNBC about this that there's preliminary talks between the Dodgers and Mets about trading Shawn Green for Mike Piazza. I'd talk more but I am in class right now. Any thoughts Met fans?

The dodgers were stupid for getting rid of LoDucca. They need someone behind the plate.

I'm all for trading Piazza, I think his career is pretty much done, ship him off somewhere where he can burden someone else. My issue is they are getting Green back for him. Green, over the past few years, looks like he's pretty much done. Can we trade Piazza for someone up and coming instead?

I'm a Dodgers fan and I don't want Mike Piazza back for anything more than medium-level prospects and maybe some relief pitching.

I wouldnt want to trade Piazza for Green, but if no one else wants him, Id do it. The one guy I would love to get from the Dodgers is Edwin Jackson.

I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about.

I just checked his stats, and yea, he's pretty much fading fast. He had a .262 average, 20 homers, 52 RBI's.

there was a great report done by SI that showed that all great catchers peak after seven years (give or take) ... and especially a dumb meathead like piazza, who refused to play another position so he could catch a meaningless record ...

berra played everywhere ... torre moved to 3rd, and became an MVP ...

piazza should've moved to the AL years ago and split his time between DH and catcher -- he might still be great ...

get whatever you can for piazza and be glad he's gone ...

at least with green you can put him at 1st. i'm for it. you're not going to keep piazza after this year and you're not going to keep green either since his contract will be up. i'm not sure what LA gets out of this deal. So far i like what minaya has done, first franco now hopefully they won't resign leiter and they can dump piazza. now if we can find some takers for glavine and floyd i'll be happy.

why? be objective about it, would you rather a lefty power hitter that can plug a hole at 1st or a catcher who's offensive numbers have completely dropped off the table? and i'm not even counting that the guy has no arm back there. it's time to cut or losses. the guy was great while he was here but cmon.

but it scares me to have WILSON-PHILLIPS behind the plate. They are better off going back to doing top 40. Unless we get another catcher hes our best alternative.

And they better resign Benson or they are assholes.

They have a ton of good catching prospects in the minors, thats why they traded away Huber, cause they didnt need him. I wouldnt mind having Phillips/Wilson starting for a few days and then mixing it up with a rookie. Both Phillips and Wilson are great defensively, and Wilson could catch anyone.

I only want Wilson. I can see him being like Veritek. A tough SOB behind the plate. Phillips is just not talented enough.
