Pain Killers

I had some dental work done, which left me with a major pain in the mouff.

Was prescribed Tylenol with codeine #3, did nothing. They then prescribed Tylenol w/ codeine #4, which I didn't even know existed.

Works a little better. But now a coworker, who evidently has a bottomless supply, is giving me percocet by the handful. Wow, these fuckers work.

Anyone recommend a painkiller that will kill the pain, and not make me feel completely fubar?

Any fun painkiller sttories?

Are you getting fubar'd by percs? What about Vicodin (hydrocodone 5's, and 7.5's)? Those tend to not be so strong as the percs. But ultimately it depends on the person's individual reaction to the medication.

Ask about Vicodins.

All I know is when I had my last root canal the Vicodin's turned from pain killer to Monkey on Back faster then anything I'd experienced. The "Wow this is nice feeling" is then replaced by the "I need anoher one, maybe two..." real quick, and is soon met by that other friend "What happens when the Scrip Runs out?"

I flushed the fuckers and took the pain. Like CR in NJCity: that shit be Callin' me !!!!....

percs make me sick no matter what the dose. take vikes and don't over- do it. i take them for my back pain but only when the pain is too unbearable to work. (1 a week if that) but in the case of tooth pain i suggest either vikes with ambesol (you cant over-do ambesol) or stick with what the doctor prescribed. just be very careful with codine it is VERY addictive. hope you feel better

Amen brother. Perscription drugs SUCK! Ruined my marriage. My wife got so hooked on Oxycontin, her whole life went to hell in a hand basket. If it is the day after surgery or something, I can see taking something. But after a day or two, it just hurts. Live with it pussy!

Turns out I'm allergic to Vicodin and Percs so I was prescribed Demoral in pill form. It works just fine and didnt make me all wacky.

try to stay away from codeine. I had tylenol with codeine in liquid form for when I got my tonsils out. I got seriously addicted to it. My mother finally had to take it away from me. It got ugly.

Thanx; and it made me suffer, but I like suffering, in a buddhist kind of way, the inevitable suffering that is life they would say, but for me, just being hungry and sober for coming on three years, things start to happen. Things open up. There is a Quality of suffering, or cheerful suffering that can be the basis of ones internal architecture.

One difficulty; we actually think the world that we see around us, and that we experience, and our experiences, are the Real world.

Just below the surface of what we might call the real world lies riches, and these are only attainable through a path, and that path, in my opinion, will necesarily include suffering.

Mizzle, I totally agree with the quality of suffering thing.

I have never taken a pain pill in my life, which as i type it (and read it in this thread), kind of sounds wierd. I have had 2 knee's blown out as well as wisdom teeth and a busted ankle. Never felt the need for a pain pill. I had my scripts and threw them out. My friends were SO mad, but I am not going to even begin to go down that road.

Codeine is for pussies.

Percs will kill the pain TOTALLY. I did get something called ultracet for my back, which is a synthetic opoid (I am allergic to codiene), which seemed stronger than codeine yet weaker than Percs, which didn't make me too fubar, but I combined that with my muscle relaxants and was a zombie.

I was on percs after a surgery once and when my friends came to visit me in the hospital I was drooling. I then started talking to my brother going "He went to Friendlys and ate his whole dinner!", but my brother wasn't there.

Then after I got home, someone stole the 30 percs I had leftover for recovery and the doctor wouldn't give me another bottle because he thought I was lying. Good times.

The percs were too much, I got some Vicodin now.

As far as suffering? Fuck no, kinda dumb to suffer if you don't have to, just have some self control to not get hooked.
