Can someone enlighten me on the phenomenon of HIM?

Not trying to rip on the guy/band whatever but this is an artist I am really clueless about and just don't get it I guess.

Watching CKY and Jackass years ago I saw Bam wearing the little pentagram heart thingy on several t-shirts and have noticed many albums over the past few years from HIM out there. Cool logo I must admit. Then all of a sudden over the last year I would say HIM seems to have exploded all over the place and I can't turn right without seeing the heartagram all over the freakin' place.

Now maybe cause I don't like my music as goth as I used to I could never get into HIM but I have heard that there are some old style metal aspects to his music. True? I downloaded a few songs and is seemed like something like a cross between Lacuna Coil, Evanescence and this dark and gloomy keyboard filled Dracula sounding stuff.

There also seems to be a striking resemblance to Trent Reznor and is HIM anything like when NIN used to be good (pre Downward Spiral).

Any info, recommendations and explanation of the HIM phenomenon will be greatly appreciated.

They're from Finland, Bam is obsessed with them unfortunately, i think they can attribute a large portion of their recognition over here in the States due to him.

Uhm, it's metal, sometimes sounds like throwback but it really depends on the cd. Everyone calls it "love metal" which is gay but yeah you get the point.

Good music though.

HIM made the heartagram, it's their bands trademark logo. Bam is just a faggot who is obsessed to no end and asked the lead singer if he could use it on all of his shit. Plus he has the same tattoos as Ville Valo.....in the same places.

They are a pretty good band, although Bam's fascinationg with them is beyond stalking. Bam's an awesome skater, and seems to be a cool guy, but his obession is a little insane.

Anyway, like I said, the band is pretty good. Not great, but good. I think they were considering changing their name to HER when they wanted to debut in the states. Pretty creative people.

i've noticed how obsessed he is with them, but that's just fucking gay.

the band is ok at best, the only decent song i've heard is "right here in my arms" and they did a remake of rebel yell which was good but aside from that i'm not impressed.

Well, i went to their show last night and they're suprisingly good live, and guess who was in the house?

Someone screamed "FUCK BAM!!" and he started yelling back at the kid, pretty funny.
