Found a link to the script of George Romero's follow up to Day Of The Dead.
There are a few links to pics and stuff.
Dennis Hopper is going to be in it.
Unfortunately the useless John Leguizamo is in it as well.
Guess I'll have to hope he gets it early.

Romero wanted to shoot this movie in Pittsburgh, but the movie company decided to make it in Canada instead. My brother is a film student in Pittsburgh and would have likely gotten a job on this movie. But he got a job working on a mafia movie called "10th and Wolf" instead.

I went back to that site where they had posted the script and its no longer there.
There's a note saying that they were asked to remove it.

I can't wait for this, and great poster image!

For me, NOTLD
is the best horror movie of all time. I watch it every Halloween, and
never get tired of it. And even though it actually reinvented the
notion of what we think of as "zombies," the word is never used in the
movie. And the original "Dawn of the Dead" was the shit for me
growing up.

I'm also a big fan of the recent zombie flicks -
from "Shaun" to the "Dawn" remake and even "28 Days Later," which
basically told the zombie story, but without actual flesh eating
corpses.

Met Romero last year at the annual horrorfind weekend in
Balmer (www.horrorfindweekend.com); really nice guy, but the line was
too long. Still neat to have met him.

I saw this movie yesterday and loved the gore and stuff but have one major complaint. It was supposed to pick up 30 years after Dawn of the Dead. So basically here are people that had been surviving since 1977. So why were there so many modern-day inventions? Cell phones, keyless car entry, gps. None of this stuff would have existed if the world basically stopped in '77! They even mention terrorist jihad and stuff which wouldn't have happened--know what I mean? So once you start thinking about that it kind of ruins the movie.

Saw it - enjoyed it. It really did harken back to the feelings I had in the 80s when the other sequels and parodies and rip offs were coming out. There is one scene late in the movie that things seem to take a turn for the best, and then complete hopelessness sets in that (for me) sums up what draws me to these movies - just that last moment before the people/food realizes that they are completely fucked is such a deeply troubling feeling.

One friend of mine thought the point was a little heavy handed, and another friend called it "Bland of the Dead." I got a kick out of Savini's cameo, and "Bub's" cameo from "Day of the Dead." I am very dissappointed that Bill Hinzman wasn't asked to be in it - he's the cemetary zombie from the beginning of the origianl "Night of the Living Dead," and is officially known as "Zombie #1."

Bill Hinzman (Zombie #1) and Kyra Schon (Karen Cooper) both from the original NOTLD

For once Dennis Hopper was restrained in a role, and I enjoyed most of the rest of the cast as well. I really appreciated that Romero didn't try and adapt to the latest trends - to try and "Out-28 Days Later" 28 Days later. I was relieved that it didn't come across looking like an early NIN video - just not his style. My only real complaint is the motivation of some people to go back. Once they were out of there, there really was nothing to motivate them to go back. Just silly..

Also happy that it was free of too many distractions - no realy paying homage to himself, etc.

There are two amazing scenes all fans of this genre should love - one involving a grenade, and another involving a nearly headless corpse. Both were so well done.
quote:

Does there really need to be more than one zombie movie?

Yes. It doesn't imply it all happened in 1977, it's supposed to be present day, but it had to have happened pretty far in the past for them to already have their city set up etc. Plus the cameo of Savini as the same biker guy from Dawn meant it was a continuation.
I liked this movie a lot, but Dawn is still my favorite.

There was talk that if this movie was even moderately successful that Romero may make more movies.

From what I could tell he was thinking of telling stories that ran concurrent.

Like say in Dawn the people where in the mall but he'd tell a story going on at the same time of people in some other predicament at the same exact time in a different place

Kind of getting away from the idea of night into dawn into day into ... well where they are in this film

I think the naming has just been somethin gthey went with to tie the films together.

I think that new idea is cool.

I'd like to know what's going on with others why these jokers are trapped in the mall.

You know like in the remake of Dawn where the lady is talking in front of the White House and there's all that shooting.

Like to know where all the politicians ended up.

I have balls !!!

Saw this movie Saturday.

Wow, what a total stinker. I
think it is one of the worst zombie movies of all time. Totally
lacked any zombie action and had horrible character development.
Had no interest in anything going on in the movie and some parts were
just plain stupid. The Matador? Come on.

I was expecting so much more from Romero and was completely let
down. I guess I will just stink with the original Dawn of the
Dead and try to forget this mess ever even happened.

Hell,
I liked 28 Days Later more the this one and that wasn'y even a zombie
movie. The Resident Evil video games were better then this.

Makes me sad. I am a huge zombie movie fan but this one was just lame.
