The tv contract was completely seperate from the radio one. I
know the E! show was around for 10 years, but I don't remember when it
first aired. It could just be that the contracts started/ended in
July.
Howard announced his new TV deal today and the show will be on In
Demand starting whenever he goes to Sirius. So you have to pay to
listen and watch the show now which sucks. But the TV show will air
segments from either the current or previous day ranging from 30
minutes to an hour and a half (depending what was on) and it will be
totally uncensored.
This doesn't surprise me in the least. Stern doesn't care about his fans. He hasn't for years. He hasn't been that funny for years either, but that's another story.

I think Stern's in for a BIG surprise when he expects his fans to pay for his radio and TV show.

Stern has so many damn listeners that if even 5 percent of them decide to pay for his TV show...it would probably be considered successful.

The show would cost almost nothing to produce so, no matter how few people pay-per-view or subscrive (or whatever the hell it is), it would still turn a profit.

He's been limping across the finish line for over a decade. I wish he would just retire already.

Arbitron numbers is a completely unreliable system. Movie tickets, completely reliable. When Private Parts came out and was that disappointing, it kind of makes me wonder how well Sirius will do when Howard starts. If the sub numbers reportered in March next year are low, it's gonna be a bad scene.

My hunch: Sirius will close the gap but not overtake XM. XM's growth potential is outstanding right now.

The Stern show is a drag to listen to these days.

I wouldn't count him out tho. I could be wrong, but you have to give the guy credit for what he has acomplished in radio. He may have a few tricks up his sleeve.

I think Artie is funny - but it would be a great marketing/publicity stunt to announce the jokemans return to the show. ( like cigar sids return to the cosmic circus in Nov - but on a larger scale ) MUCH larger scale

Lets face it the fcc has taken it's toll on Stern. Why bother trying to deliver the goods if you keep getting slapped down by the man. It's like he gave up.

Lets not forget that one time he WAS the dirtiest player in the book.

I'd lose Robin or at the very least cut her vocal chords out on the air with a razor.

I still say Fred is the brains behind that show. When the game is all over & done, Mr.Norris will be recognized for his brilliance.

All I'm saying is Stern has been pretty low key the last few years. I can't help but wonder if he is just sitting back, chilling, waiting his contract out & re-inventing the show (off the air)

OR maybe he really does suck that bad and is fading out slowly.

I'd like to see em bring back hank the angry dwarf. yes.... I know.. I still say bring em back

I was surprising to hear Stern announce that he has
hired Bubba for Sirius. It makes me wish that Ron and Fez would have
gone to Sirius. They would have blown up huge with Stern's blessing. I
know it is an unpopular though here, but Howard would have done much
more for their career than O and A.
Howard's media blitz continues today in the Washington Post, with an interview with Howard Kurtz. The most interesting and honest thing for me, tho, was the last paragraph.

I think I sometimes come across as very arrogant...Although, God, there isn't a more neurotic guy on the radio than me, a guy who wakes up in the morning and wants to vomit. The arrogance comes from a tremendous insecurity. I'm the guy who can't bear to have anyone come with us to satellite. You know, 'How can you leave me? How can anyone in the world not be listening to me?' I have this delusion.

I'm not sure as to EACTLY why, Howard Stern will NOT available on Sirius in Canada. (which is strange because they dont bleep anything here on Canadian TV)

Has he mentioned why Canada wont have him? What reasons did he give?

I'm sure when the dust settles we'll find out how many people signed up for Sirius as a result of Stern. I'm guessing it's going to be pretty substantial, but I'm also willing to bet that XM will hold their own - and, in fact, many people may decide they can afford both.

I have both. I get XM for free on my DirectTV and have Sirius in the car. There are definite differences, beyond Stern.
