Ron & Fez Show History

Once upon a time there was a radio show syndicated throughout the southeastern United States. The show featured two jocks by the name of Ron: Ron Bennington and Ron Diaz. Along with sidekick Fez Marie Whatley, they made up the Ron & Ron Show. Diaz quit the show in early 1997. He was replaced by Ronnie Hayes. The show was cancelled later that year. Then in February 2000, Ron & Fez were hired to host the RonAndFez.com show nightly out of New York City on WNEW. Ron and Fez then dropped the .com off the name of their show, and shifted time slots a number of times. Due to controversy with the Catholic Church, Opie and Anthony, WNEW's afternoon drive time show, was cancelled in August of 2002. The following year, WNEW flipped to an all-music format. The parent company moved Ron & Fez to WJFK in Washington, DC from where they currently broadcast. The show is also syndicated to Baltimore on Live 105.7 and to Tampa on 1010 The Buzz.

Presently, the first hour of the show ("The Fastest Hour in Radio") has Ron & Fez doing rapid-fire review and commentary of the current events of the day. The following three hours are more free form, with Ron & Fez interacting with their callers, staff and show visitors.

CAST

Ron Bennington
Ron began his career as a stand comic, then, in 1988, Ron teamed up with Ron Diaz, to form the Ron and Ron show with their sidekick, Fez Marie Whatley. The show was a hit from its beginning till its demise in 1997 due to differences between Ron and Ron. Soon after the fallout, Ron Bennington and his former sidekick, Fez Whatley, were hired by Infinity Broadcasting to host a late night show based around the internet.

Fez Marie Whatley
Originally a sidekick and producer on the Ron and Ron show, Fez became a co-host during the move to WNEW. Fez is in fact straight, he's got a fianc‚ for Christ's sake in Niagara Falls Ontario Canada. duh.

STAFF

Giant Brian (aka "Kite")
6'5" Brian is the newest (and tallest) member of the staff. Brian was previously an on-air member of a Pittsburgh morning radio show, and came to DC to take on a producer role for the show in October 2004. So far, Brian's specialty seems to be creating game shows for the show.

J Dubs
J Dubs is the other producer on the show. J Dubs comes to DC via Fowlerville, Michigan, following his former co-worker at a Lansing, Michigan station, El Jefe to form "The Hideout with El Jefe and J Dubs" that runs after Ron & Fez weeknights on WJFK. Distinguishing marks include a clown shooting up tattoo, a "Detroit Lions 2005 Super Bowl Champions" tattoo, and very tiny tattoo of the scoreboard from a Lions loss to the Redskins. He also has a fear of condiments.

Benicio (aka "Captain", "Kevin Rogers", "Portabello", "Corolla")
Benicio is the intern who just can't catch a break. Whether he's trying to attract the ladies, giving an oral report for one of his college classes, promoting the movie "Polar Express" in costume, or getting cough drops for Fez, the result is always an uncomfortable failure.
