Recurring Dream - Flying

I know "flying" is a frequent dream everyone has, and (when I can remember them - I usually don't) I have had various take offs of this most of my life, but lately it's taken on a new twist.

I think it was Ron and Fez who had a discussion on air about a year ago about "if you could have only one super power, what would it be," and Ron pointed out that "flying" would be completely useless unless you also had the speed to go with it.

Ever since then, I know I've had 2 or 3 dreams with me simply floating. I have some amount of control of where I fly, but it seems that the higher I get, the more I begin to panic about not being able to control getting back down - until I realize I'm dreaming, and I can wake myself up.

Curt, I get these, or used to get them quite a lot; it would be exactly like being in a plane or spaceship; waaaaay up high, but i'm just there, not falling, just, there...

I hear though that in the dream Top Ten:

-Suffocation
-Being chased
-Being Unable to move; or moving real slow or with great difficulty, especially combined with being chased.
-Falling from a great height; being stuck at a great height
-Having to get to an important appointment or place/situation, and you cant get there; everything confounds person getting to goal, could be work, school, family...

I always have the one where I am losing teeth. And the scary shit is that sometimes one night i will lose a tooth, then maybe a week later I will have another dream and the tooth will be missing and I will lose another one.

I also always have the dream where I am trying to run somewhere and I keep going slower and slower the harder I try and move

I have had the losing teeth dream, but not the flying dream. I hate the tooth dream. Doesn't it mean that there are changes in your life or something like that?

I've heard that, but I've also heard that sometimes a dream about losing teeth is that you are just anxious about your teeth - which I know I am.

I had this one dream for many years and it would involve me running and leaping into the air and I would fly along the ground for hundreds of feet. Not a particularly unpleasant dream though. The other dream I use to have was trying to get home from some danger source and it felt as if I was running on sticky ground and just didnt have the energy and strength to make it home in time. I had this friend that said that if you dreamed you died, that youd actually die in real life. I was scared that Id have a death dream until I had the dream that your falling and you are about to hit the ground and then you wake up? I had the same dream and actually hit the ground and I didnt die (obviously). I also heard that you dont dream in color and believed it until the day that I dreamed that I had on the red shoes and everyone was laughing at me.... Did you ever have the dream that your in "all white", and you dont know which way to go, and its like a white fog is all around you and your running trying to get to an area that had some substance? Kind of scary too..

The scariest dreams I used to have were back in the mid 1980s and they centered on the end of the world. I blame the cold war - it was a time, especially growing up here in the DC area, where it wasn't a question of IF we were going to be bombed, but when. More than once I would have dreams of trying to get out of town as the missles were coming in.

My other "end of humanity" dreams were actually zombie dreams, from having obsessed on too many George Romero & the like films - something I still haven't outgrown, even if I did stop having the dreams.

Creepy, nasty stuff, these dreams.

I always kill myself to wake up out of a dream. Like jumping off a buidling or something. I've never flown though.

I have this horrible nightmare where I can't stop closing my mouth, and I literally crush all of my teeth until they either come out or break into hundreds of pieces. It sucks.

i would have the same dream over and over and over again from the youngest age that I can remember all the way to when I was 8. I wouldn't have it like all the time, but i'd probably have it in decreasing intervals as I got older from like twice a week when I was really young to like once every month when I was 8. It was in black and white and I was working for this asshole of a boss and all of a sudden like a couple minutes into the dream my boss turns into a lion a bites my upper torso off and then I'd wake up. I stopped having the dream one night when I turned into a bigger lion and instead ate him.

And I used to have dreams of bats when I was sick. I'd know I had something wrong with me if there were bats in my dream.

And now whenever I see Michelle Branch during the day, I have a dream that I'm having sex with her but she's like completely out of it like I drugged her or something.

I also have dreams of ex-girlfriends and former obsessions quite a bit. Nothing really specific - I usually run into them somewhere, and they either ignore more, or I have to ignore them, or it is like we never broke up.

Last night I was skiing through an underground tunnel, that was part of an amusement park, and the first real love of my life was there, and completely ditched me.

I think it means I need to get laid.

Actually, I'm sure that's what it means.
