Well, the people quoted in that article may be right-wing, Jesus-freak nut bars BUT at least they are being intellectually honest, which is more than we can say about most of the people they elected to represent them.

So, we are faced with two polar-opposite groups who are fighting to order our society in their own approved images:

On one side you've got the God-fearing (literally) traditionalists, who long nostalgically for a time that never was, where families were whole, the picket fences were white and the sex was for procreation only ...
and on the other you've got your interior decorating rump wranglers, your flannel wearing pearl lickers, your can't keep it in your pants divorcees (male & female), your animal instinct out of wedlock fornicators, your chablis-sipping married couples who are in-wedlock fornicators, and let's not forget your kitten abusers and your monkey spankers.

As a member of the latter group, my feelings are getting bruised because we keep losing these elections. :(

I don't neccessarily agree with gay marriage, but I'm to the point where I honestly don't care. Get married, don't, whatever.

I don't think parents should divorce, but sometimes it happens and whatever. Doesn't effect me either way.

im against gay-marriage for reasons that i haven't heard anyone mention. first imagine all the gays that would get married, thats a hell of a lot. now married couples get benefits and tax breaks and all that. this combination would cause a huge economic impact. im also against being gay in general cause its not the natural way for sex and whatever else comes with that.

There's a million reasons why marriages fail.
Feminism opened up a world opportunities to women and marriage stopped being their only option. The economy has made it so that most families have two working parents that end up falling out of love because they're fulfilling all types of commitments and ignoring each other. Society has changed and marriage isn't so much an economic institution anymore.

In a way, I think it means that people that stay married do so because they truly love each other.

It's just such a personal, private and complex issue, that eliminating options is a reactionary and useless response.
