Thanksgiving Cancelled

Man, I haven't had a decent Thanksgiving in years. I haven't even spent one with my parents in almost ten years. Always something comes up, but this time it's even more bizarre than usual. My sister in law's family was having Thanksgiving dinner. They were just waiting on one of the sisters who was flying up from Brazil today. Anyway, she put something down on the form that she shouldn't have (worked here illegally when she had a student Visa) and was deported back to Brazil as soon as she got to Atlanta.

So anyway, her family's all down about it, so they cancelled Thanksgiving. It's not that big of a deal, but man, that's kind of punk-assish if you ask me.

dont feel bad. i had to see my parents for the first time in 4 months since this is my first year of college. they noticed i've lost weight and are convinced im on drugs. as soon as i got home i had to clean the basement, and worst of all i have to pretend i go to church and dont smoke.

A close family member is in ICU with heart / kidney problems. My sister's boyfriend's family had to decide today whether or not to take his grandmother off life support

I had an uncle who died shortly before Christmas. The last time I'd seen him was Thanksgiving that year. It was a tough time, especially for my father, so I'm really sorry to hear that Boondock. I know it doesn't amount to much but my best wishes and prayers go out to you and your family.

My two daughters where so bad for two straight days (fighting so bad clothes where ripped and blood spilt), that I gave them the "if you do one more bad thing before we leave, you are not going" speach. Needless to say, the got in another fight an hour before we left, so I stayed home with them and let my wife and son go.

Boon - Really sorry to hear about it. Over the years I have had good friends who have sufferered terrible losses around the holidays, and I always wonder how they can make it through it. Best wishes to you and your family.

Mine almost was - I was one of the dorks trapped in Chicago...23 hours in O'Hare Airport Wednesday & Thursday trying anything to get into Kansas.

Never again.

I landed just in time to get to my cousin's house in Wichita for their 2pm meal.
