More and more you see that this time of year is no longer considered Christmas time. My Job replaced the Christmas Party with a Holiday Party. Heres the new trend in sending cards

Yeah, it's not like their holiday counts or anything.
I say the more holidays the better. It's not like one is any more "real" or "important" than the other. As long as they get me off of work a few days, fucked if I care what they celebrate.
LAZINESS UBER ALLES. Faith is too much work.

When you think of it though you are not directly sending a birthday card to Jesus so what is the whole PC thing about. Santa has nothing to do with the real reason for Christmas so why not have 1 holiday, for everyone and seperate days off for those who believe in something.
I say December should be set aside as a paid holiday for everyone.

Eventually we'll become like Mexico, where there's a holiday every week, and nobody gives a shit. The government is always worried about being impartial, and dont want to look like they favor one group over another. Businesses the same deal. But no one's saying how you can celebrate on your own time/dime. I love Christmas. More each year. Alot of Jews (I'm not) put up Christmas trees and celebrate the secular parts of Christmas, which I think is pretty cool. I know I dont have any dradels around my house. I think Christmas is big enough for everybody. .

As much as some Christians hate Halloween for being pagan, I can't help but chuckle when they set up a Christmas tree. . .

I also find it quite amusing that Christians have a problem with pagan holidays, especially since the two religions are basically identical in rituals and beliefs. With the exception of nature and gods/ goddesses being replaced with saints and communion.
Most Christians just don't get it.

I guess it was ok for Christians to usurp pagan rituals and symbols, but not ok for others to practice those rituals.
I actually had a Christian laugh and think I was kidding when I said Easter was full of pagan fertility symbols.

the funny thing is they are not running the country, they just think they are. i have no problem with pagans as long as they stick to harm none and i am a reverend. but, in all reality there is more closet pagans than actual christians in this country.
call a catholic church for help with food or toys for your kids, and they will only help you if you are catholic (not even christian which is the definition of catholic)
ask your wiccan neighbor and they will help you without caring if you are christian or pagan.
it is a shame that we cant all just get along

Just a correction, Catholic schools teach EVERYONE, regardless of religion, Catholic charities help ANYONE who needs the help, regardless of religion. They might throw in a pamphlet about Jesus with your meal, but you get your meal. Sorry, but your just dead wrong about that, Booboo. Whoever told you that was shitting you.

True that, Bulldog; you look at a classroom of kids in a catholic school today; might be one or two catholics. Maybe.

I am sorry to argue bulldog but I guess the Catholic churches that i have had to deal with we're flukes then.
When my family was in need and i tried to get help from the church in 2 different states, at 2 different times, with 2 different Catholic churches they wouldn't help me because i am not "Catholic" i am Christian.
And I won't even start about Catholic school, they will take anyone so they can force their beliefs down their throats. I think going to catholic school is a main reason why people become pagans, athiests, and other religions but Catholic.
I think the Catholic church needs to look at their apporach on things.
Starting out by not banning vital gosplels from the bible. It is a religious text not a choose your own adventure story.
Then take Kevin Smith's idea and make buddy Jesus. As much as I love that Jesus made his sacrifice of body and blood for our sins, having him pictured eternally as hanging from a cross bleeding and dying is a morbid, macabre visual of our Savior.
And thirdly stop touching children, leave that Michael

they dont do this either. You're going from 'they only deal with catholics' to 'they will take anyone' in two posts.
Edit: Ive taught at Two catholic schools and two Yeshiva's; at all, the first thing out of principals mouth: Youre teaching Biology, not Religion; teach them Chemistry, if they ask about your religion or beliefs, refer them to another teacher or me.
There *are* schools with administrations that are old school and want to proselytize, but these days, re-prioritizations have occurred. There are many many many catholic schools parents are falling over themselves to get their kids into, so they can get them out of the 'regular' school system.

The very word "Catholic" MEANS all- inclusive. Look it up in your Websters
As to your personal situation, I'm sorry to hear that, but I'd have to get the other side of the story.
Sometimes there are Government strings attached to funds charites recieve, may be an explanation

The Protestants in Dublin, I feel, have a different take on the word.
And why break off a major religion, and call it 'all inclusive'?
This is why I am Agnostic.

Mike sweetie I am going from the church will only help Catholics by personal experience to Catholic school will except everyone in order to try to form them to God fearing Catholics.
I don't know how it is from the teachers point of view but I know a lot of people from Catholic schools and I stand by my point.
My husband went to Catholic school and won't even drive me to church on Sundays. My friends that went to Catholic schools now want nothing to do with Christianity.

Well, then you have had horrible luck in dealing with the Catholic church, or just a very selective memory.
I've been raised Catholic, and spent twn years while I was in school working with and for over a dozen different Catholic-run or started charity operations around the world, and never was there the ludicrous idea of "only helping Catholics." The starving are the starving. The poor are the poor. The sick are the sick. We were just there to try and help them out and hopefully make their lives a little better.
I also attended two different Catholic schools, and in both, like Mike said, students who were ACTUALLY Catholic were way, WAY in the minority. The only pre-requisite to attend these schools was that you had to afford going there, since they were privately funded that way...that's it. Outside of the hour-long "religion" class we had once a week, there's was no exclusionary practices or teachings that would indicate these schools were trying to be "Catholic-only" or were trying to convert everyone. Both schools were basically educational institutions that happened to be run by Catholics.
Hey, maybe you just happened to stumble upon a few "hardliner" parishes or something. All I know is is that what you're describing is not the case for most of the Catholic parishes and school throughout America and the world. I have HUGE political issues with the church at this point in my life, but what you're declaring simply is not true on a large scale.

I was raised Catholic, and went to Catholic schools. I have no resentment and hatred for the church and even sent my kids to Catholic School for two years while I could afford it and before I moved out of the city and got them into a better school district
I don't even get the point of this thread.
Is it to bash other non christian religions? Jews? Political correctness? Christians?
