I can't get any of it. I lay in bed for hours sometimes and I can't fall asleep. Is there anything I can do to help this? I was sort of hooked on benadryl awhile back, it helped me sleep but I decided to stop.

You could take 25mg of benadryl (one tablet) every night for the rest of your life and it more than likely won't do anything to you. On the other hand, that's just not good sleep.
Best thing is make sure you have no caffeine after 7. Drink plenty of water, (but not just before sleep, then you'll have to pee), get exercise, and batch.
That should work.

Excercise, yoga... Make a set sleeping, waking pattern and stick to it. I find reading gets me sleepy as well.
Do not have any caffeine after 6 pm.

Ahh. Sleep. That's where i'm a Viking.
And I agree with the no caffeeine after 7. And that inlcudes a lot of things you may not realize that have caffeine. Also I found when I exercised late (after 9) I was extremely wired and could not sleep for a significant amount of time afterwards.

I had a terrible sleeping pattern for the past 4 or 5 years. Once I got into law school I realized I couldn't be going to bed at 5am anymore, because I needed energy for my brain to function. What I found works for me is Tylonol PM. Every night I need to be in bed at a reasonable hour I take 2 about 2 hours before I go to bed. It works like a charm for me. Hopefully it might work for you too.

I excercise for 2- 2 1/2 hours every day, sometimes up until 9 pm. By the time I crawl my ass into bed at 10, I am dead to the world. Then again, I have a very physical job working with autistic children too, so maybe that's what wears me out. I guess everyone is different, and you have to figure out what is best for your body.
Oh, after I have sex, I like to fall right asleep and usually do, so you can try losing your virginity.

Straight up Benadryl would be better. Tylenol PM is just Tylenol with benadryl and prolonged use isn't good for the liver.

Kats post got me horney. Thanks!
Seriously, try what others have said, dont take medication unless prescribed by a doctor! Excercise will do you wonders. I know you have trouble walking, but if you can manage it or go on an elliptical machine for a while it will tire you out. Take a hot shower before bed. Read in bed and have a light you can just roll over and turn off without getting up. I have a "white noise" machine in my bedroom that drowns out other noise, you might want to look into that, or set a radio to static. Hope that helps!

or set a radio to static.
Geez i dont see how that would help at all. i too have an awful sleeping pattern and trouble sleeping, but i think static would only make it worse. id be goin nuts tossin and turnin if i had static playin constantly, its like a knife scraping under my finger nails or something.
i dont have any "remedies" to help anyone sleep, i just usually get in my bed and lay there for as long as it takes. it always works.

I took benadryl. But instead of two, I take one because I shouldn't be doing it every night. Maybe after some things happen, or end, I'll have less anxiety and I can sleep more comfortably.

Yeah, I guess people are different. I used to go to the gym late, and I would be wired until after midnight somtimes, and then would crash hard. I would have trouble waking up in the morning because I had gotten enough sleep. But that's another issue altogether.
Anyway, exercise is wonderful, and I recommend it highly. Just trying to point out one case which it could conceivably not help to a certain extent.
