Should RF.net have an O&A forum?

I bring this up because I was in discussion with a few R&F regulars yesterday. I personally think a subforum focusing on O&A, Stern, and Satellite radio is a great thing.

Out of all the fractured WNEW universe boards, RF.net's moderation is lauded as the best - not too tight, not too loose.

We have a subforum on wrestling and other niche topics - why not a board dedicated to these subjects?

I understand there's plenty of O&A boards already out there. But there's not many where Sirius and XM can BOTH be discussed, with the same audience that this board has, with the same moderation this board has.

Thoughts?

No. There shouldn't be an O&A, Stern, D&M, Imus, or Bob and Tom forum. I just think this board should be for Ron and Fez fans first, and everything else is secondary. The other guys fit in just fine in their threads and in the Entertainment forum.

honestly, I think that's a really good idea. Maybe not and O&A forum per se, but a sat. radio forum or something. But I really like the basis for the idea, somebody should get on that shit.

I say no. Here's why:

A couple of years ago, this might have made sense because of the interaction between the two shows and the fact that there was a lareg overlap between the fans of the two shows. Now, however, because the shows are employed by different companies (and Infinity's bad blood towards O&A), the interaction is virtually nonexistent. Also, although there are still many board members who are O&A fans, and many who have followed them to XM, now that R&F are aired in DC, VA & Tampa, there are R&F fans who are fans of Howard Stern, Don & Mike, The Hideout, Out to Lunch, SportChix and even *shudder* Tom Leykis.

I would not be opposed to adding an "other shows" forum where all of the above shows could be discussed. My fear is that the level of discourse would not rise above the level of "Stern blows donkeys", and the forum would just devolve into a flame war. I'd like to think that people have enough respect for others to realize that entertainment is subjective, that all of these shows have their fans, and that being a fan of any one or more of these shows doesn't make you an idiot. Personally, I would support an "other shows" forum only with the caveat that flame bait posting is not allowed. Criticism would be fine, but the criticism would have to be something more sunstantial than "they suck!"

The reason why I said a forum should be started here is that the audience who is here already knows what can and cannot be tolerated. It won't degenerate into a massive flamewar, because I think most people here can understand and appreciate both Howard and O&A's shows. And if they don't, they can avoid the 'other show' forum.

I think the Howard Stern to Sirius threads and other threads have shown that it won't degenerate into a flame war... the conversations have gotten heated, but both sides for shows have given effective points about their side.

I also believe whoever moderates the forum should be a satellite radio subscriber themselves, and be an O&A and Howard fan/listener. Fair and balanced.

Personally, I hate the fact that other forums ban the word "Spaz". I think it'd ridiculous.

Funkman should have his own forum about telling his childhood tales. I especially like when he talks about growing up in Jersey City and banging Spanish chicks in Newark.

and this is the reason it will never work. everyone will want a forum for every thing they deem important.

While i would love an O&A forum, and i could see it fitting in here, i also see the flip side. If you want O&A stuff, go to the O&A board or post in one of our threads. but this is the ron and fez board, they have their own.
