Christmas is the deadliest day of the year for Americans with 12.4 percent more deaths than normal, researchers said on Monday.

More Americans die from heart attacks and other natural causes on Christmas, the day after and on New Year's Day than on any other days of the year, the researchers reported.

It is probably because people are feeling too busy or too festive to go to the hospital over the winter holiday season, the researchers wrote in Monday's issue of the journal Circulation.

Another reason given is that the quality of hospital care is worse during the holiday season due to "staff changes, which I interpret as all the good doctors and nurses are home celebrating the holidays with their families.

So, obviously, we need to do away with Christmas.

i think there is more stress from people placing pressure on themselves to not forget anyone when giving gifts and trying to find something someone would like. what adds to that stress is waiting till the last week to get it done...

one xmas, my father went out to get some stuff at the store.
he didnt come back for a while. later we found him dressed up like
Santa Clause. he tried to surprise me and the family by coming down
the chimney with an arm full of presents...ÿ He slipped and fell and
broke his neck.ÿ The body wasn't found for days.ÿ

When I went to the hospital last night, the emergency room was packed. It was insane. Theyw ere bringing down beds from rooms for people who were going to be stuck there for awhile.
