Background: Got a job and was promoted to Marketing Manager (what I went to school for)
Story: Monday I find out that I am being placed back in my old position but I am still making the same amount that I recieved when I took the Marketing Position. So, when I was told to pack up and move back into my cubicle, I wanted to know who my replacement was. Well, yesterday that person made his way into my old office. Turns out, he is the President of the Company's Brother-In-Law and had recently lost his job as an IT director. So how is he qualified to take my position? Is this world really all about who you know? Has the whole world gone mad? These are the thoughts running through my head.

Yes.
I got my first job through a friend. Most of the people I know got their jobs through friends. Friends give me their resumes and I give them directly to HR which gives them a much bigger chance to getting an interview than going through a headhunter or mailing in a resume.
Knowing people helps.

The company Xmas Party is tonight and there will be wine to drink. Can I get my hands on some of that?
Its tough to bite my tongue and train this guy to finish the projects I started. I was able to get $24,000 more in Marketing Funds than the person I replaced for the 2005 year. I had alot of stuff I wanted to do with it and now he'll be the one reaping the benefits.

You know why alot of the Presidents cabinet leaves after the first term?
Because they can cash in big time as lobbyists.
You know why they're so valuable as lobbyists?
They know the President.
As my 7th grade Science teacher told me
"Its not what you know, its WHO you know!"
Which made me wonder why I needed to do my homework
