what do they do with old meat?

When I go shopping and buy chopped meat, the date on the package always says "Buy before" and the date is the day that I'm buying it. Example Today is Oct. 4, so it will say "buy before Oct 4". If no one buys it, what do they do with it? It may sound like a dumb question, but I'm concerned.

Simple: they put a new sticker on it that says "buy before October 11th" my brother, the guru of groceries used to work in a grocery store so I went to him on this one.

Yay! I got one right, do I get the gold star or just the maggot pie from all the left over meat?? (eeew) Yeah food establishments are like the *least* sanitary places ever. When I worked at starbucks we had milk that was over a month and half old. Im sorry but someone needs to inform people that just because its refrigerated doesn't mean it will stay good forever

Once the meat is cooked, I don't think about it, like hot dogs and hamburgers, but if I'm handling raw meat, (that dosen't sound right, and that's not what I mean) that's when I get grossed out. Gwen, I owe you a meat loaf.
