I need help! I have been having this problem for a few years and I cant take it anymore! When its very cold, my hands, even if Im wearing gloves, start to hurt so bad that tears come to my eyes. Its like as if I plunged them into boiling water and they are burned and throbbing and I cant think of anything else but getting them warm. It hurts especially at the joints near the tips of my fingers. Does anyone know what this might be a symptom of? I realise this is a message board and none of you are doctors, but I figured someone might be able to guide me to what might be causing it. I tried searching Google and found nothing. Any ideas? Im not sure how to even approach my doctor about it..

It might be bad blood circulation? Do you get it in your toes at all?

Not really, just my hands. My toes do seem to be sensative to irritation, like if my socks had an exposed seam or if my shoes fit funny, it would drive me crazy.. Could that be it?

I was also thinking circulation, but then again I am no doctor.
Shit, I don't even play one one TV. But if I were, I would be one of the 4 out of 5 who recommend sugarless gum!

My father has bad circulation and it happens to him. You really should have a doctor check it out. It's not good to have circulation that bad. It can lead to some bad things in your extremities down the road.

My wife has something called Raynards syndrome. Cold, painful hands is the main sympton.

I searched and Raynauds (http://www.healthatoz.com/healthatoz/Atoz/ency/raynauds_disease.jsp) seems like a plausable clinical indication of my symptoms. Most of what I am experiencing seems to follow whats outlined in the link, but I havent seen the fingers change color when it happens and while it seems to effect women far more likely than men, I guess its possible it could be whats happening to me. There doesnt seem to be any cure for it, other than modification of lifestyle (like avoiding cold environments and stimulating triggers) and just being careful. Like I said when I posted this, I realise that this is just a message board and none of us are doctors and Ill take anything I see here with a grain of salt. Maybe I should look to move to a warm place!

I beg to differ, I just diagnosed you! All kidding aside, go to your doctor and get a blood test. Raynauds may be just a symptom of a more serious problem. In my wifes case, it is scleraderma.

Do you have the same problem with your nose? My nose is always sooooo cold in the winter. It's just my nose too, every other body part is fine. I've had a shiny red nose for the past few days and I can't get rid of it no matter how warm it gets.

Post a picture for us! Sometimes my cheeks get that way if I've been outside in the cold for too long. For like a day or so anyway.

It doesnt happen to my nose, in the cold, but sometimes my ears feel pain too, but its not as intense as the fingers. I have a doctors appointment this Tuesday, and Im going to ask him. I like to research my own problems usually though. Im thinking this may be a sign of vascular problems.
