Saturday night someone hit my car and ran. I wasn't there to see it and I haven't seen it yet and I am not sure I ever want to see it. That car was like my baby. It was something I paid for all by myself, which includes all the repairs I have had to have done in the past year. When I heard the news I broke down crying like I just heard my brother had died, that's what it felt like.

My mom somewhat explained what happened but she didn't see it either. She came home to the cops out in front of our house. Looks like the guy smashed into the back of my car pretty hard. My mom says I probably will just have to buy a new car, they haven't looked at it yet though. The guy's bumper fell off though with the license plate on it so they know who did it. I wish it was that easy.

Sunday the guy reported the car stolen which is making things a lot more complicated. I think even the police know the guy is full of shit but they can't really do anything about it. The guy hasn't even given the police the insurance information yet and they haven't found the car yet either. I see these kinds of things on tv all the time but I would never think it would happen to me.

This has been one big nightmare. At this point I would rather have the guy who did this get in trouble for what he did than for me to have my car back. It will make me so much angrier if he gets away with it. Right now I am driving a rental and I was supposed to get an Echo but instead they gave me a Ford Taurus Station Wagon just proving that god truly hates me.

I'm so sorry Amy. I know how frustrating accidents can be, but I also never worked my ass off to pay for my own car so I can see how that would make it worse.

It's OK to be pissed for awhile, but it can start to consume you if you let it. Just remember that you are safe, and healthy and try to remember it's just a car (even though you worked really hard for it), things can always be worse.

And let that anger out somehow, scream as loud as you can into your pillow or go kickboxing or to the shooting range, something to make you feel better. :) Oh, I forgot, you can go have a drink now!

Just let the cops and insurance handle it for now, keep on top of what's going on, but just trust that everything will work out for the best.

maybe it could be fixed and if not then i'm sure there is another special car waiting for you out there. cars are like pets and they don't last forever. i remember how much i loved my first car and it was tough giving it up...

Yeah, that sucks. Is the car drivable? The problem with Jersey is that it's a no-fault state, which also screws up what money you may get out of it.

A similar thing happened to me back when I was in college. I has a hand-me-down Subaru wagon which was parked on the side of the house. I was in my parents' basement with my sister and her (at the time) fiance playing pool when we heard a noise outside. It sounded sorta like the sliding door on a van shutting. Since my soon-to-be brother-in-law was the only one wearing shoes, he went outside, at my sister's behest, to find out what it was, but didn't see anything, since it was kinda foggy out.

The next morning, I went outside to find someone had rammed into the car from the back. Loads of plastic and glass were on the ground behind my car, and we (I'm not kidding here) found half of his headlight in the holly tree next to where I parked. Aside from knowing the car was a Honda (because the "H" hood ornament thing was on the ground), we never got anything more. The car was still working/drivable, but threw a rod a few months later. Don't know if the accident contributed to that or not, but oh, well.

I hope you get justice...

Since you know who did it, wouldn't it be a shame if something bad happened to HIS car. You know, accidentally, of course just like yours. I've heard sugar in the gas tank will destroy an engine, and that would be a shame. Some people's cars have been known to disappear right out of their driveway. Damn, I'd hate to see that happen to this guy. Karma's a real bitch sometimes.

it's a shame especially when the car is running good but the cost of the damage is more than the value of the car...

the insurance company hasnt looked at it yet, it's still at the towing yard. since its the holiday week i guess things will take a lil longer to get rolling. i'm just hoping for the best.

I have a Saturn too. A few weeks ago I was parking my car (on the side of the street) when a car flew through the intersection hitting another car. That car in turn smashed into me. It also tore my license plate off. The next day I got a Ticket for not having a plate. *sigh*

And WHEN you get paid by the insurance co. They like to drag their feet when its time for THEM to pay. God forbid your check is a day late, you get a cancellation notice. I hate fucking insurance companies.
