View Full Version : dischargred from the Marinies
Yesterday before I found out the horrible news of Someone I knew close, I called my freinds house to get his address over in Parris Island. When I asked for his Mother, the woman said "do you want to talk to Mike"? I was confused , I thought he was over in boot camp. It turns out he had been seperated. He said he came down with pneumonia, and had to be seperated. Now I knew something was funny when he said that cause I had the same thing when I was in boot camp, and I didnt get seperated for that. So then he tells me the real reason was because he was Learning disabled.
Does this make any sence to anyone, your learning disabled so you get kicked out out the marines?

As prior service I'd have to say he had something to do with it. Maybe pushed it a little to get separated.

Yes, this could happen - the first few months you are in the military you can be seperated for 'the mutual good' of the servicemember and the military service for a variety of conditions. It's a no-harm, no-foul kind of thing.
It may be that whatever LD condition your friend has adversly impacted his ability to engage in/complete some part of the boot camp 'experience'.
Usually, a LD diagnosis is made through the school system, which means you would know of this before joining the military - one possible scenario is that your friend was 'advised' by a recruiter not to bring this issue up......then, in boot camp, some kind of problem manifested itself and it came to light that it was due to a pre-exisiting condition that was not disclosed during enlistment.
Fezaesthesia - Prognosis poor...

Maybe it's because he drives too slow, if I am thinking about the correct Mike...

Does this SENTENCE make any sense to anyone?
"sence" "your" "out out"
Is your friend REALLY the one who's learning disabled?
Be honest, did YOU get kicked out of the Marines?
It's OK, we understand.

He said he got a separation code which will let him go back into any other Millitary. I just dont get it, how can you be medicaly separated from the Marines for having pneumonia, ADD, and a learning disability? I mean I can understand having pneumonia so bad that you miss a certain amount of weeks in training they dont want to send you back to week one, if you miss week 4-6. I think I remember seeing that when I was in the NAVY(then again that was 3 years ago, I dont remember last week. I think he's hiding something, he ashamed that he cant join the Military. I talked to him today to tell him he should get on with his life. He sounded depressed. I told him you cant be, you tried and did your best, get over it and move on. I did the same thing, and lost a year of my life to depression. Im not going to let my good freind do the same thing I did.

ag: your absolutley right, at least he tried. Keep reassuring him that this shit happens....every week to someone. You said you were in the Navy so I'm sure you know, boot camp is a whole different world, some people adjust well, some don't. I remember people saying they were gay just so they could get out.
Whether he's being totally honest or not, keep his spirits up, it's not the end of the world.
I'm not sure of the other services, but the CG will not recruit someone with ADD. CG won't even take people now if they have too many tattoos.
best of luck to both of you.

He had to have wanted out. Once you get that far and there's something that you didn't tell them, the only way to get out is if you tell them about how you lied. I remember when I was in boot camp and this crazy black Master Sergeant goes on and on about how anything you lied about, he's gonna find it, and when he does he's coming after you with the MPs in the middle of night. Might sound stupid, but when you've been up for 3 days straight and are new to the whole drill instructor in your face type thing, a lot of people get freaked out.
You wouldn't believe how many people stood up like, "Oh no, I smoked weed and never told my recruiter!" Haha
