No no no! If Sill HAD the money, he/she wouldn't spend it,
for the good of the game.
Sill has a MORAL objection to the Yanks resources.
Sill's Mets spend $100 mil, and end up in last place.
That's what I call priceless.
At least we get to hang another Pennant, if not a ring.

a) Met tickets cost about as much and I go see at least 20 games a year.
b) Yes I have moral objections to the Yankees resources because the Tampa Bays, the Milwakees, and the Pittsbugh Pirates of the MLB world dont have the money.
c) Explain to me because Im so fucking ignorant how one team being able to spend over 200 million dollars and making it to the WS or the ALCS every year IS GOOD FOR THE GAME?

maybe if they didnt suck so much donkey dick, or didnt sell the whole team the couple years they were decent, then people might actually BUY TICKETS

dont hate on the teams who have money spending it. its gotten to the point where i want the yanks to spend. i wanna see if they can spend 300 mill and not win the world series.

and by the way, dick cheese, the owners of the yanks, and the sox, and the angels DONT MAKE MONEY OFF THE TEAM in terms of tickets and stadium shit, except beer. they make massive profits on beer. any money they make, assuming they do at all, is from merchendise and video game licensing and what not.

last year, the yankees lost money, but they dont care, cause they wanna win.
Milwaukee doesnt win, because instead of spending the money they have, which they ALL HAVE, they keep it as profit and claim they dont have anymore to spend

Gladly. The NFL, which has a system of pure parity, has had its ratings DECLINE consistently since the system was put in place. Baseball ratings have been going UP in recent years, while the Yanks are spending all this money. It gives the networks something to sell. DAVID VS GOLIATH. People tune in. There aren't any dynasties in Football anymore, so they lose the casual viewer (me) Nothing big to pull you in.

PS You're not ignorant. I may not agree with you but that doesn't mean I think you're dumb. The most INTERESTING conversations I've ever had were with people I disagreed with.

BTW-Soog, let me defend Sill for a minute "dick cheese" is a bit much. Sill's a good Met fan, I just disagree with him about some stuff. No need to get personal.

Football gets better ratings than baseball. Im too tired/lazy to look it up now, but I know for a fact that nationally broadcast NFL games get bigger ratings than nationally broadcast baseball games. This is including the playoff games. And how many non-baseball fans tune in to see the World Series? And then look at the amount of people, worldwide tuning in to the SuperBowl.

Football is and will continue to be the number 1 sport in this country, salary cap and all...

though im basically on BDC side in the issue, i must point out:
NFL Ratings- They have gone down not so much since the salary cap, but since the boom of digital cable, satalite, direct tv. the ratings have gone down cause instead of being forced to watch the games they show, more people can choose now. if you look at the total number of people who watch NFL, it is probably higher than it used to be, its just lower per game cause more people can watch other games they wanna watch.
MLB Ratings-gone up because of home runs, if anything other than just more people to watch tv. i dont think, aside from in NY, the yankees really effect the ratings all around other than the few games they play on the other teams network. its basically alot more offense and 500 foot homers that have people watchin, so steroids

MY point is the trendline on ratings. Down for Football, up for Baseball. Baseball is in the same environment Football is (Dish, Cable etc) but their ratings are trending up. Sill, It's true Football ratings are higher, But its Apples and Oranges. I could tell you more people watched and attended Baseball games, and you'd say sure they play 10x as many. Conversly, If you want to say Football is higher, I'll tell you they play 10x less. So my whole point is the trendline.
If I was running a business, and it was trending down, I'd think I'm doing something wrong.

im tellin you you are wrong. less people watch NETWORK football. thats the only games they release ratings on. MORE people watch football now. its like this:
say 100 people used to watch football in NY on network tv. now 85 people watch on network tv and 30 people watch other games from other markets, therefore not counting to those other markets ratings.

thats less RATINGS, 85 on the network, but more viewers, 115, of football

Gotcha. But if they dont release ratings, how do you know who's watching?
Plus, there's Basball on the Dish too. Factor that in as well. Works both ways.
Which is why I just wanted stick with the #s we have, which are the network #'s.

the companies do release them. what i mean is, when you hear like mike and the mad dog reading ratings, or see NFL avg ratings on the net, its the ratings of network games. thats just how they do cause for one, with direct tv, you flip alot more than when you have 1 game on tv, so its harder to track. also, they arent local games, so they cant count them cause not everyone can see it.

but thats not fair. one, baseball as a whole is viewed less, so less people buy it on direct tv. footballs package is also different then any other. alot more people have it because its all on 1 day a week, a day most people dont do anything relevant really. alot of people also buy the football package even though they like the local team, cause they just like football and wanna see other guys and more than just the 2 games local. so the local football network ratings lose the non fan viewer, plus even fans of the team cause they buy the package.

in baseball, if you like the local team, you would tend less to buy a package because they are on almost every day anyway
