Bateman was only interim producer until a permanent producer was found. Giant Brian was hired as the new producer, and Bateman went back to just producing the Hideout.

They also have a couple of new interns.

Not sure who you mean by Paullie. That might be Paully Loose Bowels, who is just a friend of the show, and not employed by the station.

Bateman doesn't really have enough experience to produce a show like Ron and Fez. Of course, you could argue that neither does Brian, but he's certainly more up the scale than Bateman who is the equivalent of some guy off the street.

Bateman did a really good job with pulling tapes and putting together the best ofs - he always had an ear for the fans of the New York days. He was also great behind the scenes, with the phones and the prep work, however he really did not want to segue into the role of the guy gets smacked around by the hosts.

He's a good fit with The Hideout. He gets some really funny lines out sometimes.

Man, I had the biggest fucking crush on Justine back in 1985/86. I even managed to get her home phone number and would call it (from the east coast!). Usually the machine would get it, or the daughter of her then boyfriend would answer - the only time she actually answered, i was drunk and hung up like the 19 year old douche I was.

She changed her number shortly after - I learned, much later, that she did have a legit scary-stalker at the time - made me feel bad, for a moment.

By the time "Satisfaction" came out (her big movie, which marked the debut of Julia Roberts), I was over her - someone gave me the shitty soundtrack as a gag, which I still have somewhere.

Now that the Hideout has been boarded up (their words), I hope they keep Bateman on the payroll at JFK, he struck me as a highly capable, thoughtful and motivated producer. PLUS, he's so friggin enigmatic that watching him is like staring at a giant statue of the Buddha (I'm not sure what that means, but's it's how I feel)!

Well, I was all set to agree with you there, Bobo...until this..

I think I'm just going to step away from this thread before it becomes creepy...

(I'm not sure what that means, but's it's how I feel)!

Yikes...too late.

Between that and my Justine Bateman admission, this may be the creepiest thread of the week.

Yes. Well I've heard on the radio you eat nothing but chicken fingers 24/7. So it MUST be true.

BTW, I was only able to work on the shows (besides the time I was actually there for the shows) about 1 - 1.5 hours a day because I work elsewhere during the day.

I'm not saying that you're a bad producer, only that you're inexperienced. Personally, I don't know that there's a producer out there who's a perfect fit for the show. The radio industry as it now stands doesn't allow for that to happen.

I knew I wasn't the right producer for R&F, that's why I didn't even apply for the job.

To me, no one will be better than Al on air and Rory behind the scenes.
