Difference here is that we gave them this place like we did in Afghanistan, and from Afghanistan we should have known that this could happen (in fact I've seen it predicted from the beginning by current and former military officials and experts). And now it's in the heart of the Middle East, on top of the world's second largets oil reserves and is damaging every country in the region and freaking out its people. This is more than just a new training ground, it's a recruiting tool and the greatest opportunity for fundamentalists to serve up a major defeat to the US since the marine barracks bombing in Lebanon.
