From DCRTV:

- 1/14 - DCRTV has heard that Infinity's DC talker WJFK-FM will start carrying the Junkies (right) in the 10 AM to 2 PM slot. Probably starting Tuesday, 1/18. Then known as the Sports Junkies, they had done the evening shift on WJFK-FM before moving to the now defunct alt rock WHFS in late 2002. Bill O'Reilly will move from live at noon on 106.7 to a tape-delayed broadcast at 11 PM. And, "The Hideout" with El Jefe and J-Dubs, which had been airing at 11 PM, gets dumped. Also, DCRTV hears that the "Out To Lunch" midday show with Miles Montgomery and Steve "Thrill" Hill has been axed from Infinity's Baltimore talker Live 105.7

Tape delayed Radio Factor in place of Jefe and Dubs? Crazy. By the time O'Reilly gets on at 11pm all his news will be "old". I'm gonna miss Dubs on R&F...thought they had a good chemistry. Tonight should be some interesting radio. Dubs and Jefe saw this coming though. For the past few nights they would sign off saying "see you tomorrow night..maybe.."

I think it's OUTRAGEOUS that JFK would sacrifice an excellent local program like the Hideout for the sake of that curmudgeon O'Reilly. I feel so sorry for Jefe, JDubs & their crew, they really deserve to be treated better than this!

I think they're moving to another market, probably Detroit. It's a shame they have to get blown out because Infinity has to keep O'Reilly on the air (even if it's an 11 hour old show). The Hideout was really on a roll, but it was fun while it lasted.

Wow, this sucks. If true, I'm really going to miss the Hideout and their interaction with R&F. In a perfect world, the Hideout would move back to weekends and then back to the weekdays schedule once Stern leaves.

It also sucks for OTL. I hadn't heard them much, but I heard good things about them. There was talk of syndicating them to middays at WJFK, but obviously that's a non-issue if the Junks take the middays slot. The OTL firing could indicate that the Junks will take the Baltimore modday slot as well.

Not the best show, but I enjoyed hearing it when I was coming home late at night, and wished they had been on for a full four hours each night.
They were getting better and better, and it's sad to see an original local show get the bump for some tape delay pundit.

Even worse, no more Dubs on R&F!

The Junkies got a raw deal with the WHFS situation, but if them coming "home" is ultimately what's killing shows like the Hideout and OTL, that's not cool. What a brutal business...

On the bright side, zappa now has no reason to ever post here again, and hopefully will be following El Jefe with his man-crush back to Detroit.

CRAP!

This so fucking sucks - and replaced by O'Reilly?! This is a mistake. JFK should have stuck with them and used them when Stern leaves. They really have a way of engaging their listeners and callers. And, they are great guys - Jefe, Dubs & Bateman.

One lousy week.

There's a letter in the DCRTV mailbag that says that OTL actually quit and is going to a station in Seattle - not sure what that means.

Supposedly Dubs will be working w/ R&F until they decide what they are going to do; they are both still under contract w/ WJFK.

I've listened to R&F since they were in the Hideout slot... and still in NY.

The only 2 reasons I've been listening to WJFK for the past 2 years is Ron and Fez and the Hideout. It's extremely depressing. If you've listened to the Hideout from the beginning, you'd have realized that they've come a hell of a long way and found their niche.

I'd be boycotting WJFK (even though it's the only station I've listened to since I was 10) if not for Ron and Fez... And I'm dying to see the Hideout make a comeback.

I don't think they'll be back on WJFK for a while. And Dubs was on Don and Mike several times as well (show whore -lol-). Wherever they go, I hope there's an underground.

Go to the Hideout's website and add your name to their list so they will have an idea of how many names to put for the reservations at O'meara's.

Wait, where are they going? Is Dubs leaving?

If they can find a station to take them, they will more than likely be out of there - Dubs included (maybe R&F's best on AND off air producer ever, imo). There has been interest from a number of places - i don't think any of them are in DC, though.

(Listen obsessively close tonight for more clues...)

Losing The Hideout AND losing Dubs at JFK really, really sucks. And just when he finally has his own "character"! - Clementine Dynomite!

Last night, when they had Black Earl from NY and BJ from Florida on at the same time, I imagined Dubs calling in as Clem from Detroit (or wherever they land) from time to time - you know he's one that will stay in touch.

If they could work with Giant Brian, I would love it if Tommy Bateman, Ogre or Benicio/Corolla/Portobello/Sandler would step into that vacant spot.

O'Reilly & JFK-FM Parting Ways?

2/4 - There are rumblings that Bill O'Reilly may soon be leaving WJFK-FM completely. The Fox News commentator was recently removed from 106.7's midday slot for the resurrection of the Junkies, who got bounced from 99.1 (formerly WHFS) when it flipped to Spanish. So, will O'Reilly, who now airs via tape delay at 11 PM, jump to a live noon airing at a DC area AMer? And will "The Hideout," which used to air on 106.7 at 11 PM, be restored? Stay tuned....

O'Reilly and Joel Hollander are best buds.

WJFK is such a cluster fuck. BO has no place on that lineup. O'Reilly is back to stink up the joint; the Junkies lose an hour of show; JFK will cut off Stern before he actually signs off and D&M lose their "best of" - oh, wait...that's not such a bad thing.

This does not mean "The Hideout" is back. Hopefully it will be, but there might be pressure to put on "Loveline."

So, Monday: Howard Stern (6-10); The Junkies (10-1); O'Worthless (1-3); Don and Mike (3-7); Man on Man - Terps Basketball (7-8); Ron and Fez (8-11)Lord knows what next?!

I guess it's a good thing R&F didn't get "promoted" to the sinkhole of middays after all, but this is still ray-dee-oh and worse things are always around the corner.

I can't quite figure out why they ultimately decided to run Loveline instead of The Hideout. I'm guessing it wasn't money because Jefe and Dubs complain they didn't make a lot of money.

Timing...

Life is all about timing. I know now that what happened to us at WJFK was part of a master plan set forth by the universe to get us to where we are today: on the verge...literally hours away from a huge announcement. I'm excited about "Keepin' it REAL"...

Meanwhile, our website (www.radiohideout.com) is down and will be for at least a week. Timing sucks considering the pending news, but I'm sure that's happening for a reason.

I also tend to believe, in addition to working out perfectly for the breaks, timing can save you from mistakes. For that, there is this:

"but i threw you the obvious
just to see if there's more behind the eyes
of a fallen angel,
the eyes of a tragedy.
here i am expecting just a little bit
too much from the wounded.
but i see through it all
and see you."

How's this clue from Jefe? "Tomorrow's announcement is Good Bye." And Dubs just told me he loved me...

Jefe just said come by Saturday night to say goodbye. There were some references to going to a warm climate.

Good luck boys.

I am really going to miss them - I already do! I hate getting my sleep! I loved that six hours!!

They work so well with R&F, and Dubs really is the best Third Mic on Ron and Fez. Still, if the clues add up to what people think they are adding up to, it is really an incredible opportunity and I am thrilled for both of them.

They will make it, and some people will look very stupid for letting them go. Maybe sooner rather than later, once Stern leaves, as well as other JFK Shows (and I'm not just talking R&F) and they realize that they could have had it all, and instead they will have nothing!

I think it means radiohideout.com got a digital boo-boo. Or is that cyber-ouchie? In any case... I hope someone in FLA hooks up a feed. For those of you who didn't hear the guys on Sunday, they played all "going away" bumper music. At one point they even played "Two Tickets To Paradise".

They are obviously going to Florida. I am happy for them. I really hope they do well and maybe one day get syndicated to a station where I can here them. There show was actually good enough that I had never heard of them before WJFK and still illegally downloaded it and listened.

If the hints match up to the speculation, they will be on a Clear Channel station that has shows that are are all on XM, so who knows - Jefe and Dubs might be on satellite before R&F!

I don't think he's ever said on the air - hopefully it won't be a problem (I would doubt that it would be, but you never know). If it is, I'm sure Pauly Loose Bowels is just waiting to jump in.

Since it's 99.9% certain they're going to WTKS "Real Radio", they do offer streaming on the web site currently at no charge, but allegedly would be about $5/month.

Today is the last day for The Hideout in DC, and they are doing their 2nd goodbye show in 3 months.

So far, they still aren't mentioning where the new market is - the new market wants to announce them first - but they said they will next week.

They have put in their two weeks, and hope to start the new show by the 11th of April. At least "Corolla"/ "Benniccio"/ "Portobello"/ "Kevin Rodgers" will be going with them too, and maybe even Tommy Bateman.

They have also confirmed that the new station will also stream the show free and legal over the net.

They talked about the last two months with WJFK and the interviewing with other stations in other markets, an the decsions with not going with them. Part of WJFK's woo-ing was that they don't know what the next year is going to bring once Stern is gone, and there might be room for them in the weekday line-up again once things shake out.

Personally (based on nothing more than nothing), I believe that the boys wanted to believe that horse shit at first, but when WJFK plopped in Loveline, and then Big O and Dukes Saturday nights, and THEN just plopping in Big O and Dukes REPLAYS Saturday nights, they would be insane to stick around. This is just me, though, reading between the lines.

They have gone to great lengths, though, to not burn any bridges, and they have said that they are keeping the doors open and would love to return to Washington one day. Ben the janitor said to them that they will be back, and (as they said) "is always right."

"Everyone comes back."

I hope they make a real impact where they are, and one day can just squeeze out a ton of dough out of the company. Cameron got it - he saw what could happen with growing a show from nothing with the Junkies - but unfortunatly the asses above him just didn't have the big picture.

Anyway - someone will have the entire show today available over at radiohideout.com so you can hear the talk, as well as continued obsession with J Dub's ass. And hopefully by Tuesday they will be allowed to make an announcement on Ron and Fez about where and when, etc.

I hate to be the one with the bad news, but I highly doubt that the boys will be bouncing off the bird
(aka XM satellite), before R&F.

If they're in the 7pm - 11pm timeslot, they might not
get on, unless the change the XM lineup.

I listen to the channel, for while Im driving and at
work and cant get the boys on BigSexy. There used
to be some great shows on, but the put in a few
that were not popular. The channel that used to
carry alot of the WTKS shows, got a few cut,

The Shannon Burke show got pulled from XM ,
so they could have the G. Gorden Liddy show
on, which also pushed back and pre-empts
the first hour of "The Philips Phile" so it starts
at 4pm and goes to 7pm. I like the Philips Phile
and was sad to see the first hour screwd up .

The 7pm to 10pm slot goes to the
Phile Hendrie show. This I dont believe is
the one that WTKS airs, since their timeslot
is 11pm-1am.

XM's lineup;
6AM-11AM ET The Monsters of The Morning
11AM-1PM ET Tony Kornheiser
1PM-4PM ET G. Gordon Liddy
4PM-7PM ET The Phillips Phile
7PM-10PM ET The Phil Hendrie Show
10PM-1AM ET The David Lawrence Show

WTKS;
WHO'S ON REAL RADIO 104.1?
Monsters in the Mornings
Weekdays from 6-11am
The Shannon Burke Show
Weekdays from 11am-3pm
The Philips Phile
Weekdays from 3-7pm
The Best of Real Radio
Weeknights 7-11 pm
Phil Hendrie
Weekdays from 11pm-1am
Real Music Nights
Weekdays from 1-6am

This could change, but I dont see it doing
it. I know ClearChannel alot of pull, but
so far they've not had any luck getting certain
things changed.

OH, as for the streaming of WTKS, its kinda funny
and they make note of it on their page. Connecting
takes time, but isnt always relaible. I'll make more
tests during the week, but weekends its hit or miss.

as per their site:
Requires Windows Media Player
Note: Initial setup may take a couple minutes...You may hear music or silence during commercial breaks.

(it also doesnt like to play well with firefox, forcing
you to use that damn M$ IE, which is riddled with
security issues) I've tried to use the url for
mediaplayer that used to work, and it's hit or miss,
mostly miss.

I've I can get a reliable connection either via
internet, or XM, I'll encode the shows as before.

If anyone has any ideas and or better ways to
hook into their system, let me know.

It works fine in Mozilla, which is what I use at home; I tried it this
afternoon.&nbsp; That's Mozilla, not Firefox.&nbsp; It bears repeating:
the latest and greatest is all well and good if someone is paying you,
but older technology has been more thoroughly tested.&nbsp; As my old
buddy Mogen David used to say &quot;Don't let the best be the enemy of the
good.&quot;&nbsp; WTNT AM570 uses the same streaming system and I had no
trouble with it using Firefox, so maybe look not to the stars, Horatio.<br />

I think the show sounds great. They seam to be adjusting to doing 4 hours daily, and the pace is running smoothly. I only regret that I can only hear it at home, as I only have 2 nights off each week. On those 2 nights, I listen to R&amp;F and record the Hideout for later listening.
