OK, I got one of them Dell XPS gaming computers about a month ago. The thing has run great...not a single problem.

But tonight, I get home from work and try to turn on the speakers and nothing happens. They basically will not power on. I THINK the sub-woofer is on because I hear noises as I adjust the bass level, but the two speakers that it's connected to will not power on and play sound.

I've run the diagnostics with the computer's sound system and according to it the hardware is fine. I pulled my desk apart and checked all the physical connections, and as far as I can tell, everything is where it's supposed to go. Unless they fucked up the retard-level color-coded plug system, everything is where it should be.

The speaker powered on briefly after I initially re-plugged everything in and switched them on, but I switched them off again so I could put my desk back together, and the problem came back...the things won't switch on.

Anyone have any ideas? Have my speakers just died?

There may be a fuse in your subwoofer that could have blown.

Also, plug headphones into the audio out jack where the speakers usually plug in and play something. If the sound comes out of the headphones, it is def. the speakers and not the sound card.

I would uplug everything and re-set it up. If you still get nothing, the speakers are dead.

Well, Dell is sending me a new speaker system.

They seem to think the problem is in the cabling between the speakers and the woofer, given that none of them will power on while everything else does.

Oh well.

A gremlin in my Dell!

Sorry, having dealt with (read: fix) Dells quite often, this has become sort of a mantra.

Like I said, this is too bad, since I haven't had a single problem otherwise.

Well, at least they're replacing them.

RIP, Mojo's Speakers. They're in a better place now.

I just ordered an ultra sharp 19" flat panel monitor from Dell. I am hoping I do not have similiar problems.

I got an awesome deal on it, so i couldn't resist.

I've got the same monitor with the XPS. It's glorious.
