Well, I know there have been a few posts about Cell Phones and I know some get up in arms when the subject comes up and there already exists a posted discussion about it. But hear me out on this one before you lock it.. The technology is always changing and discussions that were brought up in the other discussions are no longer "current", so if I revived a old thread about cell phones or "whats the best company" or whatever, basically, the information would be kind of dated. Right?

Its like if someone got up in arms because there was aleardy a discussion about the World Series JUST LAST YEAR, you know? So, since it makes sence that no one SHOULD get up in arms about new stuff, but a previously discussed topic. why cant I bring to the table a discussion about who has the best cell phone plan/equipment etc.?

See, Im thinking of bailing out of Cingular because I had AT&T and they took them over and now I have this plan that Cingular doest have a similar deal in, and besides, Id like to get one of them Blackberry phones and Id like to discuss this, but Im fearfull that someone will get pissed because it might have benn talked about like 2 years ago or something..

What do you think? Is it valid? Any suggestions?

kidding.

I have verizon, and have had it for years. I love it.

I also used to work with blackberries. I heard their reception was shotty at times. Also, since not to mnay other people have them, you lose the benefit of cell to cell minutes.

Well it depends.

"What's the best phone company" could be re-used again and again, since that's an ongoing topic. The question is the topic...and the question doesn't change, even if the answer does.

Someone asking about a specific brand or technology that's no longer around or outdated, yeah, there's no point in bringing it back and a new thread wouldn't be a problem.

That's why we won't necessarily lock all thread about satellite radio in general, but recently decided to keep as much topics about XM specifically to a single thread.

Does that explain it?

DUDE ITS CALLED THE SEARCH FEATURE..

Oh, that is too cute man! Seriously, I gotcha!

In my company, I see all the sales guys now have the Blackberrys and they communicate via email and they have speaker phone, and they have direct connect! Seems like a nice idea, even has a PDA aspect thats appealing. Thing is though, I tried walking into a Cingular sture today to see about an "upgrade" and I was so turned off at how they have no helpful peolle with any knowledge and thats what was the problem I use to have when I use to go to Verizon stores. Its the reason I left Verizon to go to AT&T. Now, Cingular is doing the same crap and I want to leave when my contract is up, but Id like to know how everone likes what they have. I attempted to go into a Verizon store at the mall and basically when I walked in they were like.. "take a number".. Im even thinking of going into one of those stores with the guys who sell all the different companys just to get some insight.

EDIT: Yes, it does explain it Mojo, I appreciate it. So, I could have used a more appropriate title huh? :o)

I'm confused.. is this thread about cell phones or about board policy?

I'm going to start a thread about how prosciutto should be sliced and the merits of bilabial fibrillation.

I rather thought it was a clever way around a subject that might have been either considered faux pas or verbooten.

What about Nextel? I know the value of the direct-connect, but how is their cell coverage or their plans? I have a friend that I talk to on his nextel and rare is the phone call that ends manually..

Ok, how about I ostensibly start a thread concerning the meteorite that struck Cambodia (http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/space/01/26/cambodia.meteorite.reut/index.html), but then also throw in some talk about OnA and test my new sigpic.

I have Cingular and it's ok. There are a lot of dropped calls after midnight though.
Verizon seems to have the best reception. It is the only phone that will get signal when others won't (NYC area).

i don't think you should do that...but only because i don't know what ostensibly means and i'm now scared because it might involve O&A

I've been on Nextel for almost 5 years now.
I only have about a dozen direct connects, but that feature is great.
Except for some issues in basements, I always get a signal.
And during some dopey storm a few years back (I forget if it was a hurricane or some shit)
Nextel was the only service running.

And they fully support Blackberry. ( Was Nextel the first?)
