I posted about the story in Politics and Current Events. About the girl who was murdered by her mom in her sleep.
Well, I've been feeling horrible, and having a lot of regret about it.
I never even met her, just talked to her online. She lived a town over. We talked about hanging out. She was so nice to me, and I'll never see her smile. I'll never see her. It really hurts and I feel miserable about it. If I had put in more of an effort, then we probably would have seen eachother. But I didn't. And now she's gone.
She was friends with a friend of mine, which is how we started talking. She told my friend that I was a real nice guy and she wanted to hang out with me and stuff.
Just if I had maybe put more effort into trying to see her we would have. Now It will never happen. It just hurts.

That's life. All you got to do is live for today.
Sorry for your loss.

Kiethy, regret is part of life. But you cant change the past. You CAN change the future. Just learn from it and remember this the next time you pass up a chance to get to know someone, especially if its just because you're a little shy. YOu only live once, and that could be any of us tomorrow.

Live life balls out Keithy. Live it to the fullest. I mean we all know you can't climb a tall mountian to drink clean spring water every day of your life, but just do it baby.
Because regret if forever. Regret is a heavy burden to bear my friend. And a man your age shouldn't have to carry it.

Don't Beat yourself Keithy. You did not know her mom was a lunatic. There is nothing that could be done.

Keithy that is sad news and I can understand both your being upset and your regret. But you did not cause this, nor does it seem there was much you can do. Lets hope the law straightens this woman out and gives her the maximum penalty. In the meantime I would like to share a couple of quotes with you that deal with regret:
"The golden moments in the stream of life rush past us and we see nothing but sand; the angels come to visit us, and we only know them when they are gone"-George Elliot
I am particularly fond of this one:
"All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much fault you find with another, and regardless of how much you blame him, it will not change you. The only thing blame does is to keep the focus off you when you are looking for external reasons to explain your unhappiness or frustration. You may succeed in making another feel guilty about something by blaming him, but you won't succeed in changing whatever it is about you that is making you unhappy."-Casey Stengel
If ya ever need to chat, I am available myfriend.

It's just she wanted to see me. And I for some reason never put forth the effort. I have no clue why...

That happends Keithy. Somtimes you do not know why you do things. You did not know her and you did not know this would happen. If you start blaming yourself for everything you did or didnt do. Then your in for a miserable life bro. Its not your fault man. Its not like you were avoiding her on purpose.

Tragic story, but you seem to form strong emotional bonds very quickly. This isn't healthy. Turn off your computer and go outside.
With all due respect.

I have emotional bonds with people who are nice to me and make me smile and feel good about myself. We were flirty, and made eachother happy. And I never took the time out of my "busy" schedule to call her or anything. I don't even think I noticed untilr ecently that she gave me her number.
I'll get over it, it just hurts now.

Speaking as someone who is dealing with a great deal of regret on this night, I can tell you it will continue to hurt for awhile. Unfortunate, but true.
Just know that things happen for a reason... cliche but oddly and sometimes, eerily, true.
Perhaps the laughs you two shared online were enough. You can hold those as your memories to keep forever.
Meantime.... hang in there. And never regret ANY level of connection you have with another human being. Because they are all special and sacred.

I have to agree. If this is how you feel about someone that you only spoke to online a few times, I dread to think what will happen when someone close to you dies.
Life sucks, people die. Take this from someone who's experienced it. Dwelling over what could have been doesn't help. Do you have anyone to talk to at school? Or are you in therapy? It would probably be more helpful for you to tell these things to a therapist rather than the board.

I think a quote from my favorite band the "Butthole Surfers" would be appropriate:
Boy: "Daddy?"
Gibby Haynes: "Yes son?"
Boy: "Wha wha wha what does regret mean?"
Gibby Haynes: "Well son, the funny thing about regret is: That it's better to regret something you HAVE done than to regret something you HAVEN'T done. And by the way, if you see your Mom this weekend, would you be sure to tell her...
...eh never mind.
Feel better man...and stop nappin on them womenfolk!!!!!!
