I can't stand Republicans. They completely used the fear of terrorism against us democrats. They just painted Kerry as a weak leader. He said he wouldn't pull the troops out too soon, he was just willing to set a possible date for withdrawl.

All I think of when I see or hear Porter Goss is him flat-out lying in Fahrenheit 9/11. I can't take him seriously anymore.

And spare me the Michael Moore comments, if you can prove Goss wasn't lying, do it. Otherwise, shut up. We've all heard your brilliant jokes a million times already.

I was satirizing the republican strategy for staying in power...keep the people afraid, being non specific about threats, reinforcing our military agenda...
etc. etc.

I didn't see the movie so are you claining that he was lying when he was Chariman of the HPSCI or as DCI? Because he wasn't DCI when the movie came out -- it was George Tenet.

Funny how absent this campaign of fear was following the first WTC bombing...

Of course we're less safe...but what happened to the days of alerting the public when it was absolutely necessary, as to avoid a panic...how does keeping people scared and suspicious possibly help the situation? Would 9/11 been averted if we, the people, were more diligent in our arab hating? Is it our job to know another attack is coming? It is not the job of the american people to find terrorists or neutralize terrorist threats. The general public is not trained at identifying and dealing with such things. That's what the FBI for, that's what the police is for..tha'ts what the government is for. Our job is to live our lives.

And another thing...do you think Al Queda is that fucking stupid as to do something so obvious as to attract the attention of some Joe Shmo to the point where he'll be the one to bring down thier plans? Maybe you didn't get the memo that Die Hard is just a movie.

Actually, Goss does show up briefly in Moore's film, AJ...talking about how he's "unfit to work for the CIA." The scene was cut for the theater release, but added again when the DVD came out.

No, he said he was the head of a committee, can't remember which one, and that he was in charge of investigating Patriot Act abuses, all of which I think is true. But then he said he had an 800 number for reporting abuses, and he did not, and he looked like a complete ass.
